Stay on topic - weather observations for this date period only
Its the Lady Nortcote. Mt Townsend in the background behind Lady Northcote, and Mt Lee to the right peak.
Above 2100 m the Thursday event delivered more than 30 cm from looking at this image. The top of Lee looks ride able already. Imagine what 20 to 30 cm would have done last night.
I observe it's been effing cold in Parkdale all morning. Legit chilly on the walk to swimming lessons.
11c at midday in Sydney. Chilly as buggery.
But apparently -3.5
Was thinking that myself Undies. Doesn't get much colder than this here in Sydney.
Just looked at the Syd obs and so far the max temp has reached 13.8 at 10am for the harbour.
No data for North Head but my weather app currently tells me that at 1:00pm it's currently 10.4, feels like 8.6
That feels about right! Very few peeps up at Nth Head lookout an hour ago. Proper chilly!
Yep, super brittle here in Bondi 10.6C @1:30pm. Light (12km/h) offshore breeze and constant light rain. As cold as it gets, I agree.
-1 at my machinery shed at 8 am , now 6c. Had 7mm of rain overnight as well.
Where's the shed, Kelpieboy?
We go through this every season... It'd be great if you announce your location (and I don't mean location on your property!) when giving live personal obs.
ok , to satisfy everyone , the shed is in my home paddock on my property which is just a bit east of........ Tumbarumba . Usually I do say where ... just forgot today ok.
Grew up in Parkdale - don't miss Melb winters but fairly cold today in Sydney.
Cold as **** in Williamstown.
Jammed the footy and now crashing someone's engagement at the pub.
I went up to Charlottes and Perisher this morning. It was -9c at 8am at charlottes. There is only 2-3cm around at the top of charlottes. I didn't go up to the main range, but would be surprised if there is more than 10cm or so, except in the lee areas. There were patches of snow down to Wilsons Valley (1500m).
Here a pic of the main range from charlottes
Sun out now in Sydney, had a feeling that would be the case
Many people up having a pre season play / rock hop?
System looks to have panned out exactly as expected. A few cm. for the higher slopes and plenty of rain for the lower ones. The models this time were pretty spot on.
apparently snowing at Buller now
According to the Barrington Tops Snow Chasers page there was snow up there today.
Looks to be snowing bottom heavenly Hotham as well on cam
12:30 today 2c at Dead Horse Gap, patches of snow above this level, view from Scamals was great, unable to post a photo at present.
I agree although interpretation of models for BOM/Weatherzone appeared not so accurate. They were calling 1500m snow fall for the alps (Snowy mountains) Wed/Thurs and 1200m for Friday. As far as I can see snow was well above this for Wed/Thurs and much of Friday. It's not til last night did it dive south of that.
To be honest it had me scratching my head as I certainly believed that was an ambitious call.
Oh no. Not this stuff again.
Have no idea what is going on at LM. The cams have been off since late Friday morning. Coincidentally, there's a friggin car rally there this weekend. They obviously don't want any snow tourists there because of it. It's an alpine resort, not a racing track. And they wonder why they get hoons on the road.
Freezing here in Wodonga
supposedly going to drop to -3 at Tumba tonight which means my machinery shed will be colder han that , maybe -5. Cant see it happening tbh.
Albury at 9C currently. I guess you mean not literally.
GFS didn't have 0 at 850 until today, which is probably pretty right. By the time it was cold the moisture had gone nth.
Yeah. Again I agree, models seemed pretty bang on. I am referring to BOM & Weatherzone's forecasts being slightly overcooked.
Models have been absolutely spot on for the last two events
-0.3 in Canberra atm.
Really cold in Syd, can't tell if I've gone soft or it's usually this cold here in winter... Currently 10.3 deg in eastern subs, apparent temp is 7.4 deg.
9 degrees and intermittent drizzle in Latrobe Valley. 17mm of precip on Baw Baw with negative temps since yesterday. Would be nice if they turned on their cams.
Baw Baw yesterday.
Was colder this morning than predicted.
If I wasn't nursing the mother of all hangovers I'd head up there for a look today.
I observe people tobogganing in Perisher FV.
Yep, looks like it from the V8 cam although the FV cam still fogged over
Was a tad cool when I headed out for my bike ride at 6 am. First morning this year I have worn long knicks and full gloves.
So where's @Normo
I reckon they'll take money off anyone silly enough you to pay Teckel!
A bit stupid two weeks before season starts!
The mountains looked lovely and white as I crested the hill at 4 mile today. Sunny and very cold in Jindabyne with frost in the hollows at midday.
Meanwhile, on the bowling green of life ....
Love a sport where you can have a beer and get an end in while in the sun
Just hit zero in Mt Vic.
5 atm in my valley in northern sydney.
Frosty in Kambah too.
