It looks suspiciously like sleet outside the office in Tuggeranong at the moment. My boss just got a text from her husband working in the city saying it's lightly snowing there.

By in large due to fetch and angling of high pressure systems outside of the winter months. In the mid-latitudes you 'tend' to see high pressure systems have greater latitudinal broadening in the warmer months where as in a 'typical' winter set-up you will generally have longitudinal broadening. Overall, generally speaking, the angling of the fetch in the Autumn/Spring months will pronounce more lift from the higher (more Southern) latitudes.

Stuff work, I needed a snow fix. Went for a wander on the back of Donna Buang, probably up to about 15cm in places, probably could have taken the skinny sticks.

It's down to 4C on Mt Boyce (BM) now with a good band pushing up from the South. I'd expect a hail there in the next few hours but freeze levels will be marginal for snow.

Yeah that came up the coast , watched it on the sat pic shear off the SW feed. I almost think its a small cold pool that detached , it came on board from the sou sou east.
To get a temp of 8.5 at sea level at 3pm you gotta have some serious cold air aloft.

Snow/Sago around High Range near Mittagong at 3.30pm this afternoon when the change rolled through.
The heavy stuff didnt last long as it turned to rain about 20 minutes after starting to snow, but its the most snow i've seen
on the Highlands in over 10 years.

I've seen guys on the train wear scarves all week..
And then there are the people from the sub continent who refuse to wear socks and stick to thongs and sandals.

Was very good. Half dozen runs in dry snow. Go tomorrow, judging by the rain coming home there'll be nearly a half metre. If they'd ran some machines over the runs they could almost have opened the hill for this WE.

Best will be 0700 to 1100 tomorrow. Was trending isothermic around 3pm today but then more cold and weather came in as was leaving. most of the hill was already skiable. Wasn't worried in slightest about new skis. Post some pix tomoz

Thanks heaps for the info. Can't wait :) Been itching for a ski for ages. I'll be up there from around 10 so might be a bit mushy by then perhaps. Hopefully no r**n to mess things up overnight. What was access like? Will I get by with AWD + offroad tyres +/- chains?
