Low starting to spin up off Cape Leeuwin
Stunning morning in the dandenongs, almost 20 degrees already. Light breeze just started to pick up.
Can just see the leading edge of the NW moisture feed now , maybe getting here after dark tonight.
Incredible cloud cover on the satellite image
Perisher turned the sprinklers on!
Cracking morning. Was hot in my long sleeve Jersey.
Wind starting to pick up a bit now.
Plenty of Juice on the sat pic coming down from Nth WA.
Regular maintenance or just a clean out would be my guess. They did that at Falls and Thredbo a week or so ago.
Interesting geographically disparate rainfall totals overnight here in WA, reflecting the converging system heading toward the east.
134mm at Mandora (southern Kimberley / northern Poobara).
70mm at Telfer (Poobara / western deserts).
31mm at Shannon (south coast'ish).
16mm in my gauge on the SW Capes, even though we had the season break a couple weeks back with small cumulative falls, that was the best 24hr total since the near record January system which went through southern WA and saved our summer.
Nice to see the Indian hotpot finally releasing a bit of it's heat energy into something useful. I'll be happy if we keep getting plenty of tropical infeed into our frontal systems for the next couple of months in WA. Anecdotally, I would say the average the tropical infeed trebles the rain amounts from a standard frontal system we get here in the South West.
Sun is out here in Perth after some heavy showers.
Hot in sMelbourne
Adelaide going to get hammered by nw rain Esperance Airport dropped 6 deg from 1pm to 2pm in the swester
25c in the city at 11am but down in Seaford an hour later was a bearable 22c. Aircon on in the car.
Looks like Adelaide is starting to cop it.
Just magnificent. Spin entering the Bight. And just look at the moisture being sucked in from the North. What a beast !!!
Beast is better than boris!
And what I love about beast is, look at the cold speckled air being sucked up behind it. Love it.
Mild and breezy on the golf course this arvo. Wind dropped around dusk.
The speckled air behind.....its all about the lower temps..,,this in July would have been fairly epic
Looks like we might have liftoff in a few hours.
Killer day in Thredbo and in western side of the range today. Killer.
Single malt and Lady Northcote?
Too warm today on the rock in The Bluies, felt like summer.
Very light rain has started here in Tumbarumba. Very very light indeed.
Rain settling in here in Melbourne.
Still rather warm.
Via Olsens and Bella Vista. The single malt was Friday, late!
It has been raining light but steady here in Bendigo. 7mm over night.
Canberra is about 12 degrees and light drizzle, not much wind at all
Light rain and 14 degrees here in Latrobe Valley.
Always was going to be warm at first
Not sure we're going to see that much rain here in Melbourne, but the radar could be fooling me.
They downgraded expected here in Canberra by about half. She is spinning in the bight, but only dragging light down from the north atm, air behind doesnt look that cold, but should push up tomorrow?
Cold won't be until late tomorrow.
overcast in Sydney
Very light rain since around 0030 this morning , 6.4mm in the guage at Tumbarumba. Flood Warnings not relevent.
Astros sat pic shows it perfectly.
Its cut off from 500hpa cold air
Drizzling with smoke haze in the mid-lower Blue Mtns on the way to Sydney Town.
It is the backside of that spin that is going to be worth watching imo.
Dirty drizzle ain't it
Yeah agree, it's closing off. See what it looks like tonight.
Very light rain here in inner Melbourne.
Buffalo easily winning thus far, 58 mm have fallen. Hopefully get upwards of 100mm up in those parts
A bit of a fizzer in terms of rainfall totals so far.
NE Victoria getting up to 30mm, but everywhere else in Victoria a fair bit less
Buffalo up to 94. Elsewhere much less than predicted as you said though.
Mt William on 0. Not as wide spread as we hoped for.
32.9mm at Tumbarumba so far
Been trying to rain in Sydney eastern suburbs all day with nothing more than an odd spit here or there, no moisture settling on ground though. Grey dark skies looking much more sinister than they are.
Nothing has been happening for hours now, grey sky, smoky air, occasional, light drizzle.
Buffalo up to 89mm since 9 a.m and getting 11mm per hour at the moment.
Light rain most of the day in Canberra.
When did it stop?
Yeah good rain today, far from warm but mild enough to get around in jeans and tee.
Very welcome steady rain now in Mt Victoria BM's
It is just parked in the bight, spinning away...will be interesting watching tomorrow.
