So the latest Severe Weather Warning has the storm surge peaking at 4.0m now, that's 1.6m above the predicted tide for Outer Harbour. About 0.3m of that is attributed to the air pressure and the rest is 1.3m of wind piling and wave run up, not bad considering the small fetch the gulf has for a straight westerly wind. Got some pics and video. I'll edit this post as I upload them. If you get a black screen its probably still processing on Flickr's server.
It does somewhat, certainly felt a little Cairns like over summer with a few of the stormy days we had...actually became humid.
Yeah so I heard from family. I'll be up in July, looking forward to it. Was trying to swing it for Amateurs but we're timing it for a UK family contingent arrival at same time. Anyway best mention something about the how cold and blowy it still is here lest I get reprimanded again.
Nice steady rain again this morning on the drive to work and as I look out the window. Sky is pretty dark but radar suggest the rain may pass soon and be showers for the rest of the day in the SW flow. Noticeably cooler today also.
Not very cold, I observe that I was able to walk the dogs this morning in Queanbeyan in light trail pants and a sweater
I was lazy again, woke up to rain so rolled back over. Would have got really wet riding as it didnt really stop all morning
I stupidly decided it wasn't THAT wet I needed the wet weather knickers. And to cap it off the hot water system at work was on the blink.
Thats cold enough for up high in NSW. Just got to hope there is still some moisture left to fall out of the sky.
I observe that temps in the Snowies have not moved since 4pm yesterday, ie hovering between 2.5 - 4C at Thredbo Top Station.
yes Team Bears concur...they have been sitting in Gisborne having lunch outside soaking up rays of sunlight..wind is subsiding...the "Climate" has been restored...it is now safe to go outside!!
friggin hell....don't think Dungey /West Kiewa Ford is trafficable at moment...who would have believed this event was a possibility??? don't think Team Bears would even consider it for a few days.... what is in that Mt Buffalo massive that attracts so much water????
The 160mm Hotham picked up in the 48 hour period to 9am this morning was the heaviest 48hr fall of rain in the month of May since records have been kept, dating back to 1995.
Temps at Thredbo top station definitely trending down now. Now, is there moisture left and will it get below 0C?
Doesn't look like much on radar or the satellite pictures. However all the models say precipitation (in the alps) to continue right through the night and all tomorrow.
