That's very nice rainfall. The streams will spill over and the trout in the high country will be feeding like crazy.
Maybe a fish and a ski for opening weekend? (off topic)
I can only see very light snowfalls the next couple of days and then warmish again.

Yup. IMO, what was important out of this system was to provide for solid runoff from later systems. I think it delivered substantially, particularly factoring in that there hadn't been any solid rain for quite a while.
It even delivered quite a lot in the west, and the Otways, as well as providing for the NE catchments and Melbourne's catchments:

Gippsland of course had the rain shadow effect, but give it a good ECL down the track and its numbers should bump up as well.

Yeah my folks are in Europe until early June and were happy when I told them their place received around 40mm. They've got a neighbour to water the garden in their absence, but he won't need to for the next week.

Blardy windy here in Mt Victoria, gusting relentlessly between 40 - 70 kph for the past 24 hours.

    can't happen with this setup
the moisture was a function of the temps
to have that much of a saturated atmosphere, the temps need to be accommodating .

Looks like it was around the "natural" snowline and above, nothing on the lower Thredbo cams

We are at Hotham Central. Great to see a few cms of snow falling overnight. Its settling on ground but don't think it will last long. Blowing a gale still.

Definitely feels more like Autumn this morning in Canberra. Wind blowing feels like there's snow in the mountains. Unfortunately for May its not going to last long. Frickin 21 again on Saturday then 2 days after of 20. Very Strange. When will we actually get a frost and some ice?

Arghhh. The onslaught of ski area Marketing emails has started. Perisher has sent me an email to say it snowed. Seriously. Then they try to say that "With temperatures consistently dropping". Umm guys its a ridiculous warm May and its about to warm up again. 10 degrees in Perisher next few days. Perhaps the truth doesn't sell tickets and accom.
