Id take anything at any time of the day currently. Been a long time since we have had a decent storm in the bayside burbs.

but yes nothing better than that arvo storm

Nice period of light to moderate rain here and a brief period of S winds. Some nice looking clearing out west, and a good period of the day for it to be occurring as well as a return to NE winds. Interesting little period

The odd light shower for the ride this morning. A little more around Mt Martha.
15 minutes of tropical rain back here in Canterbury, clearing off now.

I've had to retreat from the gardening for a bit and change clothes was getting rather wet. Hasn't dropped the temp here yet.

Rain has set in here. And 21c, not 37c as forecast. One of those classic days where the change came in early.

Feels like a storm day now. Very steamy after the initial showers have cleared to full sun.

Thunderstorms in the Alps now, meant to get more severe later.
Dry storms, no rain attached to it.
According to the CFA, there's a fire just out of Bright.
    There's constant rumble.

Thank christ, I hate these dry thunderstorms with the fire risk associated with it.
    Especially around here.

Definitely some rumbles a bit further to the east too. Some lightish rain.
Not much exciting storm photography to be had from my usual spot though.

16.2mm wind and hail that was square and bigger than a pea size, quite firm as well from that dinner time blast. Friend in next street has neighbours stone drive way wash across the road and under their house! 18.3mm for the day so far.

Well that was a ripper. Didn't miss us in the end. Heaps of flash bang. Weather station has carked it. Still heavy rain. Amazing how quick its clearing on the radar.

Bit of a non event in Bonbeach last night storm wise.
    Good Rain this morning though.
Been a dry month in my customers gardens.
Flinders area has gone from too wet to too dry in a matter of 3 weeks. Basically managing moisture/gardens a turf wicket with that particular type of clay. (It is used for turf wickets incidentally!)

28mm here with another solid hour or so u til it clears so should top 30mm.
Not as much TS action but much needed drop.

so a great result in the end

edit - looking at other totals around me I’d say we’d be closer to 40/45mm here in Elwood.

Oh what a night! 49.7 mm recorded here out the back of Emerald. Weather station obviously had a few cobwebs as didn't register the first few mm from the initial band. Though I might have to pull it down for a clean but it has been well and truely flushed.

ood soaking in the north east foothills from around 10pm last night, cleared a couple of hours ago, with just a misty look and feel. The earlier rain band yesterday afternoon was comparatively brief, but dropped some good rain.

We had a few rumbles and flashes yesterday evening but nothing close and exciting. There was no stormy winds that other places seemed to have experienced, just a calm and gradual temperature drop and very welcome, steady rain.

In between the two waves, the sun painted the sky

I caught a gorgeous sunset on Saturday night too.

@WarrandyteWX, that’s a massive tree! Thanks for posting the picture. We were driving along there a day earlier, on our way back home! We always admire those magnificent and massive ancient Gums. Looking at their chainsaws though

That it is @SnowyJoey! We spent the past week in our little cabin in the mountains. The air was definitely all the sweeter for our freedom! Even the King Parrots could hardly wait to get back on the beers LOL

Reading posts from last week, it looks like we did well to miss out on the muggy and windy days/nights. It wasn’t windy at all in our valley, just a pleasant breeze keeping things from getting too warm. Although being outdoors all the days, I did notice the pollen with itchy eyues on Tuesday and Wednesday

We had some interesting weather phenomena that I’d never seen here before, only in high mountain ski resorts in the US. These photos are from last week, but hope they’re okay to post here.

Last Tuesday was quite warm, cloudless by the river, except for this one wispy cirrus cloud that began to form beside the sun. Over the next couple of minutes, a sunbow of colour moved around the cloud. It only lasted a couple of minutes, but extraordinarily vivid colours. Rainbows don’t often show the colours very well on photos but these were so strong, the camera picked it up well.

the changing colours with the play of light on the swirling clouds reminded me a little of the slow motion of a southern aurora

After a couple of minutes, the colour faded and the clouds formed these “fingers”. No other clouds to be seen

We had some very clear and crisp evenings where the Moon put on a show.

The following day, a sun halo
