It was still quite damp at 6am this morning, but it's dried since then. Finally.

    24 hour rainfalls:

Some big falls out to the east.

This weather can get in the sea.
    Ok for August, not January.
Looking forward to a long weekend down @Big_Red_60 neck of the woods.

Bout time, haven't had a good summer burst.. well all summer! Clearing nicely down here in Coongulla. Cloudy this morning, found an awesome fishing spit, perhaps where verm was talking, just up river from single lane bridge? Then back to the house for a gentle kyack with kids this arvo. Very pleasant!

In for a dry stretch it appears.
No super hot days though. Should be nice.

76mm for the month/YTD, that's more than my Jan average so i'm happy with that. Everything looks as green as September/October, and growing just as fast! I'm happy with a week or 2 of no rain and some medium to high temps, the odd high 30s day wont be an issue around here. If that continues until the end of Jan then well we really didnt have a summer here, although you know that the Aus Open is when the hottest time of year is, and they've moved that this year. I wonder if the weather will follow suit?

Just having a quick look at the charts it looks like the country (apart from NE QLD) will take a break from the cool/cloudy/rain for a week or so, but kicking back into gear again later next week. A couple of troughs set to set themselves up.

It's getting very dry here. Only about 35mm since mid-November and mostly drying Southeasterlies during that time. Everything is turning to dust...

Had 30mm over a couple of days at the start of the week up here. Has put a bit of a green tinge in the grass for now. But by the end of the next 4-5 days of warm weather I’d nearly say it will be back to complete brown and need another good drink.

It's pretty nicw down here at the moment. Got good rain again over December and nearly 50mm already for Jan. Grass is green and the bush looks amazing 12 months after the fires.

@Snowy Joey , that looks like a perfect oasis on these hot days. Rocks to sit on with shallows washing over you. Needs a glass of something very chilled and sparkling, and it's heaven! :D

Got a tad above 35 here in outer northeast foothills yesterday. Even that's hot.

Amended to 38 in Melbourne today, which means 40 or above here today:eek: Last night's sunset is forecasting the same

At least Big Bertha is enjoying the heat though

Already 32 c here. This arvo is going to suck especially with little chance of any rain or storm activity this side of the city.

    Summer of 2008/09?
Didn't we have a succession of 3 straight days in Melbourne of 43C in late January of that summer, which preceded the biggest bastard of all days in February of that summer?

We've dropped back to 33c from 36. Breeze has picked up and some small storm clouds have dotted the sky.

    True.
And we had a pretty dry and warm spring that year too, resulting in those horrific fire conditions.

We have a few centers hovering around 39C in the Wimmera and Mallee - every chance one of this will click over 40C for the first time this summer.

i was up at the tallarook ranges the other day, and central vic is grassfire-central atm, dry as some kind of proverbial, on top at least. Probably means its going to rain heaps soon....

On that day I was sitting in an apartment with some chu hi, it was -20C outside and I was shoveling snow on an hourly basis. Meanwhile, 65 degrees different on the other side of the world was cooking.

A fair bit of drizzle around 6-7am through Kew and into Richmond.
Pretty much dried up by 8am. Everything was still warm so what moisture there was, evaporated almost immediately.
