LoL - All good - I have been monitoring and saw this coming for past few days (just didn't know about the aviation warnings) - Don't have much choice as I need to fly every week for work.

Anyway, me and my phobia have a little deal - if it looks like being a particularly bad flight (weather-wise) I splurge on an upgrade to Business Class - That came through (on minimum $100 bid), so if I go down this arvo at least it will be in style - lol.

More likely outcome will be getting stuck at Adelaide Airport for much of the night - the only reasonable thing to do is stake out a good chair in the Virgin Lounge and drink the bar dry.

Quite a bit of rain last night in the Upper Yarra, not sure of total as I had forgotten to read the gauge yesterday. A lot of water laying about and flowing along drainage lines. It won't take much more rainfall for the Yarra to flood.

Been quite a pleasant and calm morning in the city. Very much the calm before the storms. The dark clouds starting to gather now, and looking at the wind obs over in SA, it's gonna get wild!

Winds picking up in the city. When in the sun it's actually quite acceptable, however in the wind and shade it is downright cold. Tomorrow and Saturday are going to be interesting to say the least.

Cold and windy tomorrow. I'd be surprised if we seem more than a couple of mm of rain.
Saturday afternoon looks like the next wet period kicks off.

It's been quite pleasant all day in Boronia other than one short shower of small hail. Virtually no breeze at all....not sure if this is the calm before the storm....

Only got to 10c here today. Equal coldest day so far this winter. Tomorrow will probably be colder.

I can't see it being that wet, but there may be other hazzards as you say, with winds (eg Westgate) and ice in the west.

We've had some "good" rain to keep the ground soft. Add the possibility/probability of 100km/h winds across parts of urbanised areas. There's gonna be plenty of trees down by sunrise tomorrow.

It is still too dry , warm and still for my walk home from work today. I need to see single digits in Celsius and rain in Melbourne to believe it is snowing in the hills.

Left the office late and got home a bit late. Getting off the train at Ferntree Gully that wind is really picking up out there. Cuts straight through you too, absolutely freezing!

Back in Melbourne after almost two hour delay in Adelaide, an hour of the scariest freaking flight of my life and 30 minutes of circling just to top it off. Hell of a storm. Enjoying it now from the comfort of my non-moving apartment.

Out here in the Upper Yarra it hasn’t been too bad wind wise, not much last night, bit breezy now and only 5mm of precipitation in the last 24hrs.

A few blobs as the rain ended around 630, as soon as the temp started to cool the precip stopped here and downwind of us. Hopefully redevelop later...no doubt temp back up to 5 or so by then. Anyway, end sulk.
Observed a couple of snow showers up on Mount Macedon between 630 and 7. Temp got to 2.2c here, currently already a breezy 2.7c

Good news is 24.9mm for the event so far over the last two nights.

Looking west from outer western subs....it looks pretty wild.Stratonimbus train coming through!

It’s got that look about it....a “mean”kinda look!
For those in the high country ....sitting 2inches from a heat source would be the advisable plan of action for the next 48hours!Good book...stay inside!

Ride into work was a hell of a slog. Set my record slowest ride, not surprising it was all into the wind.
No chance of getting cold. Smattering of rain about.

Nature smiled on me and gave me a blue sky for my 20 walk to Ripponlea train station just now. Wind is consistent and strong. Big, mean, grey clouds to the SW over the bay.

    24hr rainfall chart to 0900hrs.
A bit more hit and miss with the strong winds and erratic behaviour of the low overnight/this morning.
NE VIC again doing well with some locations over 80mm since this system arrived.

Wind really picked up our way now. And I think we've seen our max temp, which peaked a bit over 10c at 9am. Now dropped back to abut 9c.

Just went out to the shops in the city and my 4 layers were not enough, today is one of those days you need a wind-proof layer in Melbourne. Still only 9c in the city...

Wind might be dying off, but the rain and cold is quite bitter now.
We briefly hit 10C, but the city is down to 8.3 now.
