Is this our next snow making express heading our way?
That’s the one balmz.
It looks angry and cold to me. Barrel straight into southern vic
It was Snowing in Marysville( 425 M. ASL ) and on the Black spur and on the Dom Dom saddle this morning. I will put photos in My Lake Mtn. Trip Report.
King Island DP down nearly to zero. Pretty good air mass coming. Drizzle and 3.2c here atm.
Just got home to Docklands after walking from the city. Darn cold - the air temp wasn't so bad but the wind off the Yarra was down right evil.
Rain coming through Hughesdale (near Chaddie) at the moment is so intense I can barely see the next street light 80m down the road
Heavy showers moving through Melbourne ATM. Windy and cold, feels like mid winter - loving it now I'm home rugged up.
My AWS crashed from 7.5 to 6.1 as the showers have moved through
Snow off and on from 1am till 330 or so here. Temp was just over 1 most of the time so fluffy flakes could be seen sitting on surfaces then melting. At times quite heavy and worth sitting up for. No showers here atm, hoping for another go before sunrise perhaps. Current temp 0.5c and becoming breezy
Ripper of a snow shower right now. Grass turning white and settling on some concrete ledges etc.
Must be close to some wintery mix showers around elevated hills of Melbs?!
Looking at the radar and AWS looks like it maybe possible above 200m
Fantastic snow falling for the last 40 mins or so
I’ll assume wood end.
Serious cold finally reached the Upper Yarra with snow to low levels on the local hills....
Photo a few moments ago through the study window into my backyard here in Woodend
Big crack of thunder just after 4am. No wintery mix locally but reckon Kangaroo Ground would have got some love.
Puking in the Dandenogs!!
Sorry to be a thread hog, lol, bit excited! Rain snow mix atm, washing the joy away though more flakes in it as I type.
Some photos of my street and front yard after the good fall.
Nice morning for a ride to Mt Dandenong!
Was beautiful up there!
Mate I think I saw you just before! I recognise your orange jacket you were behind my car in traffic coming down near Sassafras just earlier.
Nothing like a little optimism 10 min from home
The radar showing the precip heading more SE flow than the SSW I was expecting. Not good for further precip on the E Ranges. It forecast to go more SW latter, but hoping it turns more SW sooner.
Sun is out in Box Hill.
31.2mm all up from the system at the local rainfall gauge.
24hr rainfall chart to 0900hrs.
Home run for Donna Buang, 51mm. What a ripping system!!
That was @Rush in the orange, I was in the white top.
Some amazing videos and images from Gisborne and surrounds:
Greater Melbourne 24 hour rainfall (radar estimated)
Robust coldy with strong rain wind and hail. Enough hail that there are sections stacked up against walls etc. Great weather day
Sun was out an hour ago.
Now it’s raining moderately here.
Had this sent to me, few mistakes made on the road up to Mt Macedon
At last a decent blizzard event!
Still plenty of moisture in this system, just drove from South Wharf to Oakleigh with solid rain the entire 40 minutes.
Bit scary isn’t it ! The roads around black Spurr, macendon, Ballan etc aren’t good in the wet and wind add in snow and it’s a totally different ball game. Really unless you have to travel you’d avoid them at all costs as you don’t know what could happen with this weather
Plenty of showers moving through the city tonight. My AWS has been hovering around 10 for much of the afternoon, few mm picked up so far
Inner North & North West suburbs look like they are getting pounded on radar.
Roads damp this morning on trip across to western subs.Wind diwn now.Looks more settled this morning.
Bit of sunshine too!
46.2mm for the event from Wed night till now. Current temp 3.0c
Some pre-dawn showers at home, roads were wet when I left home, but quite fine all the way in to work.
24hr rainfall to 0900hrs - 64 @ Mt St Leonard which also verifies against the 50cm snow report @ Lake Mountain.
12mm locally which land the system total to near on 35mm, which I was hoping/wishing for. Milder weather in the forecast, garden/lawn to go coco bananas....
A jogger killed in Princes Park this morning when a tree weakened due to the winds and rain came down at 8:30am.
Current flood warnings for Victoria
Moderate Flood Warning for the Latrobe River
Minor Flood Warning for the Barwon River
Minor Flood Warning for the Bunyip River
Minor Flood Warning for the Werribee River
Minor Flood Warning for the Yarra River
This system was always going to pose a safety risk to the community. A combination of prolonged wet weather (not amount but duration) coupled with several days of strong winds.
I hate the term "thoughts/prayers" however our feelings go out to those directly affected by those whom have passed. Also to those "first responders", the Black Spur scene would have been horrific.
This weather system is not just known for its prolific snow dumping!
What a horrible freak accident. When it's your time, it's your time.
That why Team Bears go a bit proactive around our(your)campsites with the dead trees!
Another sad tragic death....this one.worse than being in vehicle ...you would think that hearing something you may jump out of the road !
Cold out here in Caroline Sorings but pretty still.
And im gonna guess they had headphones in so wouldnt have heard a thing until bang.
A little drizzly this morning, slowly warming up.
Murky morning with low cloud/fog and persistent drizzle. Maybe accounting for 1mm.
Didn't stop my mates turning up....
Sitting under a 1029hPa high and we have shower activity filtering down from the north.....
We had a light shower at home around 6:30am, fortunately cleared off before I had to head in to work.
Now a stock standard dull winters day, winds from the NW. Radar shows shower activity over the local ranges, but nothing elsewhere.
Cooler this morning, the wind from the North freshening significantly.
Clear skies too.
