I'm missing a breadcrumb to take me back to the main forum. I understand why is fine but going into the menu is a pain. Maybe the house could take you back to the main forum rather than the site home page?

    Switch to the new theme,

Without getting too technical, some templates can only be optimised for one theme or the other and the breadcrumbs template was one of them.

I actually spent around two hours figuring a way to get breadcrumbs really sweeeeeet on the new theme within the scope of the broader navigation

In the old theme you can of course just click or tap the Forums menu item in the nav to get to forums list page. It's still just one click, different habit thats all.

(I'm an old-school fan of breadcrumbs too)

I had to google what breadcrumbs are.

Obviously named by a Hansel and Gretel fan

    Where did active topics go?
    Is that now newest posts?
If it is it's not the same, as it doesn't show the threads you have posted in if you were the last post in that thread

    Ahhh
Mine doesn't look like that though
I think I have the old theme but where active topics is there are 3 horizontal stacked lines, which if you tap on active topics comes up
Is this because I haven't downloaded that latest update that keeps bugging me with reminders?

    ahh

is the menu bar black and does it look like this?

If so, then you are on a small screen and the menu is collapsing from right to left.

Is it a tablet in portrait view or similar?

As to the other thing, this site never prompts for updates or downloads - that must be something else on your system - maybe get a professional to investigate for you if you don't know what it is - might be Russians knocking.

Using a regular iPad on landscape view
    Yes looks exactly like that
Didn't mean the site prompting for updates, it's the regular IOS update - 10.3.1
    I get lazy with updates

    Switch to the new theme.

It's getting turned on for everyone by default May 1 anyway.

    What instructions do you need?

    Change between UX options here.

FWIW, I'm happy with it now. Slightly more work to use it the way I like (new unviewed), but not too much more.

1st world problem ,I know, but it takes 2 clicks to find 'watched threads'
It would be good if it could stick up top
    Edit:
Have to click on 'active topics' first!

Do you set alerts for 'watched threads'? Then access directly from alerts tab.

It is not possible to cater to every long-term members individual habits around a user interface.

Only one utility menu item can categorically be shown in every single view on every single device from desktop to mobile - and that item is Active Topics. Which with both Analytics and CrazyEgg data revealed itself (unsurprisingly) as far away the most used utility menu item.

We have to upgrade. It's over three years since we moved to XenForo and like everything in software if we do not upgrade eventually a version is left so far behind it's nigh impossible to maintain. We nearly did not make it off UBB. If we were still on UBB today we would simply have to start again - migration would not be possible now.

Maybe so, but nothing is more than two clicks and that's as good as any UX can get.

Two clicks and no extra http requests to get where I want is the key. I'm happy enough with the new workflow.
