Believe it or not, you can stay in France for as little as $0 dollars per night, and the accommodation is probably the cutest thing you’ve ever seen.

Bruit du Frigo is a collective of artists, architects and photographers who have been making headlines in the Bordeaux region with their six Refuges Périurbains (Peri-urban shelters). All of the shelters are equally beautiful, but the most popular amongst travellers has been “Les Guetteurs” translated to “The Watchers”— a trio of wooden owl-shaped huts you can actually live in.

“Les Guetteurs” was designed and constructed by Zebra3/Buy-Sellf who was inspired by the local ground-dwelling owls in the region. The hut is built on a pier with a deck overlooking a wetlands area and inside are three levels with round beds connected by ladders to create the look of a nest.

So why is this charming abode completely free? The hut is part of a project to promote urban hiking and encourage more travellers to the area. Every hut – each with its own unique shape – can host up to 9 people.

The only downside for some, is that there is no electricity or water access. However, it’s impossible not to appreciate Bruit du Frigo for its architectural beauty.

For information on accommodation, head to their website.

Very neat. Maybe Team Bears can design a Pygmy Possum hut?!

You would have to have a honeycomb of rocks as part of the foundation...cos the little critters apparently like those rock gullies....

But no doubt some little critters have found the firewood stash in Blairs and have moved in for the winter!!

Great Photos.Spring snow at Mt. Buffalo . You cannot beat it. I will be up there to ski some of the easier terrain next season,2018, now that I have made the move and left the dark side( snow shoes) started to embrace the force( XC skis).
