Report thread needs some reporting so I went and looked at all the snow cams and I can report that there is no snow today.
    Hope that helps.

Excuse me Mr King, I thought I'd previously made it abundantly clear to you that such derogatory comments are not appreciated.

I said I wanted to be elevated to the doors, man, the doors - not the walls!

And dammit, make sure you use permanent markers this time <exasperated foot stomp> I want to be able to show it off to my grandkids some day!

Maybe not a good idea to look at cams yet because APIRA cam stopped working last night and NFI why.

Don't worry DB, we've only been looking at the cams so that we can cry ourselves to sleep :(

    No big deal.

If you want current Buller snow conditions, just look outside your Melb window.

Once phone line is re-connected again we can reboot the router and cam and it should start sending.

So OK @mx_boarder, you're right - it's time to give everyone here the heads up and break the news.

    Regarding our . . . developments. . .

Yes folks, he and I have a bit of an announcement we'd like to make.

    Here. Right now.

It's only fitting to do so on this forum as this is where we met, so it's only appropriate here, after all.

    So here goes. . .

As some of you long-timers here might be aware by now, mx and I have been. . . well, kind of together for awhile now.

And as it happens, things progress, and . . . umm. . . well, we all have our urges.

    Y'all know how it goes.

As some of you may also be aware, mx already recently proposed to me, just a few weeks ago.

I guess that one wasn't so much romantic - but what can I say, he's a demanding guy!

As both he and I are also very well aware, he's quite persuasive!

And by his own admission, his "rugged good looks and charming wit"[TM 2013] is totally irresistible.

Yes, even to me - the one who isn't usually ever generally sure, and is normally perhaps often somewhat mostly reticent to possibly commit. Maybe. Sometimes.

But now, without further delay, we'd both like to invite you to share this special time with us, to share in our hopes and dreams for our future happiness and joy. . .

And yes, I think you'll all agree that this time, mx's proposal is a far more heartfelt and passionate one.

Indeed, I even had the camera ready to capture it - uploaded below.

Telstra is the job now. I have asked him to re power the router once he gets it going. Fingers crossed although he did say maybe we wouldn't like what we see right now.

Yes I watched the temps last night go down to -2 then rise to +1 when the rain came in.
A repeat of last year, cold and dry or warm and wet when we need cold and wet, hope this isnt a trend for 2014.
17.4mm rain today so far at +1

The fact the cam came on after power cycling the router means that a power outage in future should not hang the cam and it should start again when power comes back, like APIRA cam.

You'll see there is not much movement due to the vertical bars.
The old fence had a slot that allowed some left and right movement but this fence not so.
Youll be able to tweak the cam left just a little to get that bar out of shot you can see at the right side of the image.
To get the cam steered left the back of the cam would have to stick out so much its be a hazard to anyone walking around the corner of the balcony.
Keeping in mind the fence corner is not 90 degree, about 70 maybe and so its a more accute angle at that end.

This is why I suggest maybe in future we can get away with putting the cam on a post extended from the corner fence post (using an internal tube to exented to fence post) and just powder coat the housing and post the same color.
Maybe put it up at the other end of the fence where it wont be so obvious.

And excellent to see a little less wet and a little more white on it right now. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::clap::clap::clap::clap:
It sure feels cold enough outside today. I can't believe the Apira cam still says 1.8C - feels so freezing here.

OK @Ian D has decreed that Resort Report threads need to be on Topic. He has singled out Buller as the worst offender!!

The reason for this is that the forum threads are now the 'public reports' section of the snow reports on this site. You know, that area that isn't filled with us freaks and weirdos, and part of what actually makes them money.

So please keep all the Banter in the Banter thread.

I am a lazy mod, I don't like moving posts so I will just delete whatever is off topic - so if you come up with high quality banter in this thread don't whinge when it gets nuked!

Its just sooo damn warm still. Last night was very warm at Buller but low humidity, so maybe the wet bulb was low enough to punch out a few flakes. Clearly nothing more than a quick spray though!

APIRA cam has its own temp to display, so long as the sun isnt on the cam it tracks about 1 to 2 C above BOM one.
Last night its was about 6C and BOM about 5C.
    Says 8.5 C now and BOM says 7.2 C

Look at the humidity - very low numbers suggesting a massive inversion.

Sounds highly unexpected by all. Buller clip says they were expecting a top of 5. . . It doubled.
