Fantastic! I'm just a bit envious, for sure. Take loads of pics for us all.

. . . Oh, and might be worth taking an anchor too - to counteract the breeze up there. ;)

Feels a little like Buller is under reporting snow depth? Seems odd. From reports on the mountain they have had more than 40cm.

Slow trip up the mountain as there is a snowplow truck off the roa and they're linking trucks together to tow it out.

The road is pretty slippery and they're Fitton chains for 2wd below Andrews.

From memory Buller has been quoted in the past for saying their snow depth measurements are taken from places that are affected negatively to some degree by windblown, as opposed to other resorts who are affected positively to some degree by windblown snow.

Would also be nice if Buller could update their run report online as they still state all are closed with no snow.

A little rain/solidification is probably a good thing after the first dump..?

Fingers crossed for a nice 20-40cm follow up over the coming days to really get things moving.

Bourke St was really nice. They opened up Wombat (LBS & wombat run) and it was much better than expected. The snow was heavier than yesterday due to the rain last night. I was on Atomic Access and I had a great time, cruised through it. But my friends on thinner skis didn't have as much fun. I only did LBS and it was un-groomed and extremely bumpy, the bottom of the run had a lot of rollers and the top had a huge natural formed kicker. The snow was expected isn't hard packed at all so it's terrible for snowboarders and traversing. Shakey was much the same as yesterday, thick man made but there are a few holes starting to open up where the water is running underneath the snow. I didn't see any rocks skiing either day though. The visibility wasn't great today so seeing the bumps was challenging and there were a lot of them.

I'm currently at Tullamarine waiting for my Sydney-bound flight. Sunny skies here so hoping to catch a glimpse of the alps and maybe take a snap if the clouds stay clear.

With the gale force winds though I suspect Qantas' supplies of puke-packs will be seriously diminished by nightfall.

Will put some pics up for those that don't have twitter :D
Skyline: bits of grass still showing, but the best snow once you pick your lines ;) next to the lift line.
shaky knees: kind of meh, the odd obstruction, snow of variable quality.
Baldy, still plenty of grass and obstructions.
LBS and Wombat: fairly complete cover, but snow chopped up and bumpy.
No crowds, didn't have to wait for a lift anywhere.
