Never mind. France this week FTW.
Is there any future possibility for a Mt. Hood / WBC / Copper type post season setup on Bourke, that patch on summit or skyline area?
Few people come post season.
does anyone know what this might mean?
it means they want to relocate a shipping container!
Why does that need a planning permit?
It ticks the boxes somehow to necessitate a permit. I'm guessing based on its dimensions it's considered a structure.
I remember for a construction job near Morwell, we were setting up our lay down and couldn't bring in any containers until we got a planning permit from the Latrobe City Council. It was meant to take 3 months to get through but there's more than one way to skin a cat.....
The container is where they store the moguls for summer. great care and planning has to be done to move them in preparation for winter!
A new snow cam for the factory.
this coming season seems promising, with the new snow-factory. Will be exciting to see Bourke Street covered from top tot bottom for opening weekend!
My first run too some 38 years ago. I can remember the thrill of the 'steep bit' on the left just outside/down from the Arlberg.... woooh! ⛷
Does anyone know if the dam is still scheduled to be installed? or have they scrapped the idea?
They said to me ask us in May
Still waiting on permit and funding.
Although the confidence is building on getting it to happen.
Here's a rumour......Bourke St has snow for Easter.
Some family members of mine are up there ATM getting their gear before an OS trip & posted on FB, the snow piles are pretty impressive already, almost 2m high.
Another person posted that the snow seems pretty durable over the last few warm days.
You can also see the piles on the snow factory cam
It looks like the machine is having a chunder as it spits it out.
It's unfortunate but somehow I'm not surprised - I'm sure this behaviour happens everywhere regardless of public / private entities!
I just spoke to somebody in the RMB about it who is of the belief that all are innocent and it's just disgruntled ex employees making false statements.
I appreciate that the report uses a photograph of a telemarker on Mt Stirling.
Pic is a Buller Patroller on day off. Taken top of Slalom Gully, not on Stirling.
Went for a ride up the mountain after work and checked it out, still pumping out the stuff. The material looks something like this -
Quite icey at the look of it?
I thought it was more like Maclaughins. I didnt think you could see the bluff like that from the south side faces.
I've pencilled in retiring on the Friday before my week scheduled in for the end of July.
That'll be a nice way to start re-retirement, a week on the snow.
Well maybe not quite a week, figure on driving down the Sunday and then having from Monday maybe to Thursday.
Best bit will be the oldtimer's lift pass rate.
it looks like the RMB are building another "ticket office " in the carpark between Mirimbah store and the existing Resort Entry office. Could they be planning to charge people to park off the mountain also?
Well the have to generate money some how to pay for O/S trips, tyres, friends to stay.
Well if they do I suggest we incite riot and get an angry mob to burn it to the ground.
Surely they should be going to an e-tag/number plate system like Hotham to avoid any booths at all!
Mt Buller RMB spent a fortune on trial and it was huge flop. Wonder if it included some overseas trips as part the trial?
Yep, seems to work at Hotham
I suspect they sabotaged it.
Its just odd that they always have poor excuses as to why they cant expand gate pass sales.
They used to sell them at Buller sports and I asked other ski shops and they said RMB was running software they couldn't afford to interface with only BSL companies could.
But even that stopped and the excuse was that they had to have it all in house so they could close ticket sales if the resort was full.
But its all software network driven and they could simply stop all ticket sales via that so the excuse doesn't make sense.
And in fact if they stopped sales at BS Mansfield it would provide advance notice to anyone buying a pass there that the resort is full and they could park at Mansfield and catch the bus up.
But sensibility and what best for the public never seems to be their priority.
There is some reason they are keeping resort entry obfuscated and limited to direct sales only but not sure what it is.
Snowed, yeah it did !
the problem is, when they call Mansfield to tell them the car parks are full, Mansfield have
all ready sold a heap of tickets to people still on the way, getting food, or chains or just driving
to the gate. Then they get to the gate, with their ticket to get told we are full.
Worlds biggest snow making machine getting tested here, looks like it could continue for quite
a while. Must be cold for those out on the bikes, very windy as well... not me today
They say that but how come that doesn't apply to other RMB sales outlets, online and term passes.
All those passes can be sold in advance so why cant other outlets also sell them in advance.
The excuse they use about calling Mansfield makes no sense and I said that to the lady at BS in Mansfield in 2015.
She told me the same thing and I asked here how they can sell in advance online and term passes so why not at outlets in Mansfield.
I dont know, that's just what we are told she said.
Its a sign !
So welcome back to Australia miss b! Everyone at home has been complaining how hot and humid it’s been. I don’t know what they’re talking about - I couldn’t ask for a better welcome home.
where ya been @miss_b_haven ?
Might be up this weekend for a pedal.
Hey ltb! How's it going? I'm pleased that I hear no Canaussie accent in your typing.
As for me, with the good folk of the middle-east unable to play nice, I used those travel funds to benevolently radiate my chill 'n' charm through Tahoe instead. As a consequence, Tahoe had the best snow season for decades, if not on record. Their drought is over. You're welcome, California.
A couple of weeks later, when local authorities discovered I was in the vicinity again, I made a hasty exit to the opposite coast and spread my warmth 'n' charm from Washington DC to NYC.
Said regions are now in the process of recovery.
Dude, forget the pedals - there be chocolate hidden in them thar hills!
so the new structure at 'resort entry" is a pay station. allegedly you will have to pay for parking if you park at Mirimbah
I plan to consume all of the hidden chocolate...and the kilo or two we take up
Fantastic two days of riding, but man the wasps are bad at the moment. What's going on? Yea, Mansfield, Jamieson, Buller, Stirling - plague proportions.
Warm last Winter, more survived.
A man after my own heart. What else is Easter about if not to stuff oneself stupid on chocolate?!
And at your height, your elbows and knees are at prime level to deal with all the pesky kids, who no doubt would be selfishly assuming the Easter egg hunt is all for their benefit!
$8 a day or $48 for a week.
Lots of flies etc for them to feed on, and the temperatures as PP said. The warm autumn hasnt killed them off yet, there are heaps down the mornington peninsula at the moment too. As long as you're not near their nest it's fine to swat them away.
Got to pay for all those OS holidays.
