What a lovely day to ski in mid-September. Snow quality got better as the afternoon came round! Lower Northside (cow camp etc) is done for the season but everything else is still AMAZING! Powder keg, thulkes and outer edge all the way to the bottom were incredible. Federation, boulders and lower men's were good fun too! Fast one was unpleasantly icy probably due to the wind blowing the powder off and fannys was closed (probably due ice). But had an amazing day of skiing and the temp stayed cold all day!

Yep today was great, spent most the day in Wombat bowl then lunch at koflers followed by the afternoon around Chamois area, Elephant, Lois lane and another not naming it run were all bloody great.

Thursday, Friday, Saturday all looking good at the moment. Saturday probably the pick, both weather-wise and crowd-wise, (thank you, football).

Yesterday winter won the seasonal sparring with spring but today I think spring got a slight edge. More sunshine and the snow softened a bit more than yesterday. It was only the busy and groomed areas that got a bit heavy early afternoon but off the groomers was terrific. The wind wasn’t too strong but had quite a bite

Early morning around Grimus areas, later morning in Wombat Bowl.Yesterday we were given snowflakes, today we were given views.

Lunch conversation was courtesy of @CarveMan After that, I left him to finish his lunch in peace while my aussieskier skis took me down Sun Valley a couple of times, then lower Men’s DH a couple of times. The latter was really nice skiing. The middle section was still powdery from yesterday

Last photos are of a little fellow outside the lodge that obligingly posed for me. There are a few of them around at the moment

Yep I'm in for Thursday pending weather.
Was thinking today but Tue temps are lower now so Wed or Thur, Wed looks like cloud and like another sunny one so Thurs looks like it.

Thursday for me too! According to BOM, there’s a 20% chance of a snow shower. Is it likely that they’ll force people to carry chains due to this chance?

In the seasonal tug of war between winter and spring, winter has both hands holding on tightly. As @CarveMan wrote a couple days ago, in any other season we’d be frothing with a day like today again

I was today anyway. The moment Wombat Chair opened, I Took to the bowls. It felt like I had the whole mountain to myself with no-one else around. It snowed hard most of the morning and was quiet all day

Thulkes skier’s right had moguls to my chin, skier’s left had some rocks lurking below the surface. One took a bite for its lunch from one of my bases. @CarveMan you can imagine how that pains me. Although I know skis are to have fun on and I’ve definitely been having that.

The afternoon was again spent under Southside Chair, Lower Mens and Federation Bowl. We even had so,e sun whilst clouds whirled about in the nearby ranges. Those dramatic clouds are bringing tiny flakes that are floating gently outside my window at the moment. I tried to upload some video but an error message says the file is too big

Back in the regular big snowfall years, Grand Final day was often one of the best ski days of the year. Great snow everywhere and eight people on the runs!

Still so much snow around the place. Made the hill about 630, got into the lodge then over to the Whitt for Schnittys and the game. Plus Furph. Might head down the pub at half time.

Went up Thursday and what a great day it was, still so much snow around the place. Grimus was closed till about 1pm, not sure why, but got to do a lot of runs around the mountain I wanted to try
Men’s downhill was my favourite for the day, plenty of laps, followed by summit and howqua
Tempted to do a last trip for the season on Tuesday...

Amazing day in an amazing September! It’s great to be skiing all of the bull run bowl, federation and wombat bowl this late in the season. From about 10:00, the snow was already softening and everywhere on the Southside was great! Fast one and fannys were fun too! No lines at all and at some points many of the good runs were deserted!

Engine speed ramping problem, some electrics involved that control how fast the engine speed ramps up and down.
Spoke to maint guy in the morning, it was playing up a bit in Wed arvo.
They had to replace some parts.

Ahh yeah right makes sense, I heard an instructor say it was broken. I just thought they closed it due to lack of people or something, good that’s not the case

I rode Grimus with a couple of Patrolers and they said the base station may actually be getting raised,
It is kind of stuck down in a little hole and gets rutted up easy and would be a pain to groom.
I’d say they will put it as high as possible but still available to Bonza Grimus access.

It's going to move up the hill, the road out from McLaughlins will come out behind the queue.

It's all been approved etc, just need to build BB1 and the Dam & associated snowmaking first.

So today was the first day that it felt like spring had truly hit, could notice some melt here and there* and also some traffic damage in the soft snow.

Naturally there's still a shit ton of snow and we will have great skiing until close.

*on the south side, north side is melting fast of course.
