Sunday is Buller’s day pretty much alone. DOTS I’d suggest.

@CarveMan out of interest, how busy was it up the hill today? I had a mate who was pretty keen to head up tomorrow, but successfully argued Tuesday would be the far better option to avoid the crowds on mountain and the innevitable shitfight heading home after a day of fresh snow.

Best day of the season by far. Snowed pretty consistently, heavy at times as evidenced by the third photo on cow camp. Village runs open, all of bull run bowl, dam run and cow camp have good cover. Get up here while it’s good!

Not very, I only went to Wombat once and that had about a 5min queue, every other lift was ski straight on or 1-2 mins at most.

That said my entire morning revolved around being ahead of the crowds and it worked.

I’d go tomorrow, it will be skied in by Tues. Just get here early, and get on Northside early, ie by 8:30.

Would one say that conditions today were of Japanese pow day quality? I'm going up on Saturday and expect it to be all frozen by then, but at lease all runs should be open by then.

Sorry to disappoint but we need another 40-50cm to get everything open. Another 20-30 to get most things open, there’s still plenty of rocks to hit as the bases of my skis are showing.

Nah we're commited for Tuesday now, accepting it'd be tracked out.
I just really wanted to avoid a repeat of last years 4.5h trip from carpark to Merimbah.

Whole mountain except Bottom of Fed open, according to the site. Need just a bit more, and you have optimal cover.

You were right on the money calling day of the season @Jellybeans, and with the forecast too.

Someone else said a page or two back, something like what a day to be alive. I’ll underscore that!

It was so nice to hear nothing but muffled foof-foof coming from beneath the skis today, rather than the deafening crunch of icy man-made stuff that it was when I was here a couple of weeks ago. I spent some time dodging trees and it was absolutely silent. It was almost like there was hardly anyone about, despite being a Sunday. I was expecting it much busier. Although I did ski in traditionally quieter areas most of the time. I came back to Wombat at 4pm to finish the day with a few runs here, and no-one! No mud patches at the cross over now either.

Could still do with another good snowfall, but the snow quality at the moment is terrific. Snowing lightly much of the day on the higher sections, small dry flakes, so nice to come in after the day with dry ski gear

    Looking forward to tomorrow too

@CarveMan if some forum members are razzing Mt Buller for getting as little as this, then I say give me this little any time (and they can keep their NSW resorts!)

I’d say the BBQ’s going to take a while to cook

Is there anything prettier than these colourful snowgums, covered in snow. Year after year, it never fails to take my breath away

Yea they overcooked it coming down. I heard only a few bruises and scratches. Probably easier just to cut down those couple of trees which hold it up and let it roll down to the road below.

If whiskey creek trail and fed chair is not open then the last system was OK but not excellent it seems.

I think that's more to do with demand than snowfall. If Lower Fed opens, they will run the chair.

What a great weekend. Skied Friday and Sunday, had to give Saturday a miss unfortunately. Really good snow - much deeper on Sunday but thought the snow quality was actually better on Friday, amazing skiing and on Friday it was just so light and seemed to refuse to get tracked out! Early Sunday morning was also pretty special though and really not that busy, think I only queued once all day.

Didn't get many good pictures because it was just so white and there was no contrast. As mentioned above though the trees are always spectacular.

Ripper four days. Great snow, great friends, glad to have caught that system. Took a little while to get going last night!

Back to work for a well earned break before punching up again Thurs eve.

Definitely epic skiing both days this weekend!! I thought it started to get a bit firm in places by the end of Sunday but I also thought definitely the day of the season so far! Lots of fun in the trees.

On our way up on Sunday morning a massive tree had come down a couple of minutes earlier. Luckily no one was under it. Thought the mountain crew were super efficient at clearing it, so well done to them. The below pic is the tree in question on the way down.

Not sure about the chain requirements on Sunday morning though. When we headed up the road was free of snow from Mirimbah to the carpark, yet they were still fitting chains to 2WD from resort entry...

Awesome weekend overall though and not too busy considering!!
