Anyone know this lucky bastard
No base. It would be skied out in minutes with lots of hidden rocks...
That's what I'm telling myself!
Best not to look at the cams tomorrow then. Personally I might crawl up into my freezer and hang for a while, try and re-create that feeling
I don't know whether to or
This is surely going to top out as one of the biggest storms in a loooong time when it's all said and done. Hasn't stopped raining steadily in Melbourne since I woke up at 4.30am and it's all dead on trajectory for Buller. Nice and cold too.
Faaark me. I am pissed off!!
Yup. Thank god I got that ski in May.
Some ripper IG stories floating around this morning
I think we have now passed the May depth.. dry as, but I'm making this all up of course, you
are missing nothing, it's not real, just a dream.
It's cold up here too...
Social distancing avian style
You've seen the movie, haven't you?
It's not stopping anyone at Falls Creek.
Down the Summit run.
that's right, no base, I just checked and I can report there is no base all the way to the plough shed.
Did you walk back up??
Run....to the car...
Looking at the cams this morning, I feel ....
Cams look absolutely unbelievable under the blue sky.
The single track down burnt hut looks deeeep
fresh tracks for weeks.
As good as it gets...
In normal circumstances, I suspect there would have been a lot of unexpected car trouble yesterday evening.
Geeze you couldn't get a better day on Mclaughlin's shoulder.
Even Standard look great
It's alright. Interschools were meant to start today... so they would have had the whole mountain blocked off for that. Heard the Prep kids had slalom on Mclaughlin's Shoulder first up, so we would have missed out.
Imagine not having a season pass but complaining about getting a refund all season long then waking up and seeing the cams like they are today.
The dude on the pink skis in Anton's story is Mozz.
Would you believe I could tell?
Dat style. Always the same.
Yup. I don't wear glasses while I ski (though I will need to soon...) - can always spot my mates, boot colour and style is all you need.
Not going to lie. It hurts watching that vid.
They are obviously going to give re opening a go in September,
They have just groomed and you wouldn’t spend the money on that if you were not dead serious on opening again.
I wonder how much snow there is going to be by Sept 14th.
It certainly looks like they might be able to.
On closer inspection it hasn't been groomed. It's just the pattern the full length puffer jackets make when people are walking in the snow!
As a bonus he can drive you home on the bus.
Yeah I’ve seen a groomer on someone’s insta, also Stirling groomed some XC trails.
Bourke St definitely had something done to it, whether it was a proper groom or just a pack down.
Groomed strips on Bourke St, Shakey and Canyons as far as I can see
Yesterday skied Lois Lane and into Chamois.
Today Mclauglins into Grimus.
Weekend was all about Village variations.
Full cover everywhere. Snow's in great nick.
14 September - there will be some around.
PS: Lightly snowing now
Question remains whether the drawbridge will come down and the pitchforks will go away. There have been occupied territories that have more freedoms than the comings and goings to Buller right now.
Numbers have probably ensured at least some sort of re-opening.
Real question is whether Melbourne would remain locked out.
If the snow hung around til end of September, and Buller is open, would Buller push to stay open well into October?
Once regional Vic goes to stage 2 there'll be enough business to open for sure.
Sadly most of regional Vic would be entirely justified as being Stage 2 right now. And a good whack of Melbourne too.
If there is demand, I'm sure they would
