Chairs on the ABOM. Seemed to go on at midday then no movement...
Probably to keep the parts moving, greased etc etc
Or build a chairlift, looks like we are good to go on Grimus replacement
That’s exciting, Buller was pretty exposed with unreliable Grimus not having a backup in Boggy Ck, though the trail to Burnt Hut provided some insurance there, however it would take ages to get back to the Summit from there.
How is Buller looking for a potential late Sept re-opening in the event of Covid restrictions going the right way? How is the cover at the moment?
Certainly could stitch what they had open (Bourke/ABOM/Skyline/Standard) together again with a little snowmaking, judging by the cams.
Fingers crossed then. Highly unlikely, but you never know...
Well I mean if they are allowed to, BSL have been adamant they will open.
I wouldn't bet my house that they are allowed to open
How late in October has Buller ever had lifts running? Just wondering (I’m from Melb and the Covid Plan has just been announced)
Season is done for metro. No chance of any snow left by October 26.
That’s what I thought. The miracle of massive reductions in Covid cases combined with unprecedented late September blizzards won’t be happening...
Melbourne Cup weekend in 1992. Look up the historical snow graph to see how that was possible.
Sorry folks, Buller won’t open in October without a 1/ 100 year snow dump.
Would love to be wrong.
For context: I note it’s not a great season in NSW, with some ridges and north facing XC areas looking thin and patchy. Falls and Hotham staring to look quite bare on their northern faces two after the the dump.
Even ski touring on Bogong etc will be unlikely.
So ur telling me there’s a chance
Tell him he’s dreamin
Back to renovating it is then
It should open to regional residents now. It looks caked on on the southern side from the top of the GAR
Its absurd. It’s all ****ing absurd. It makes zero sense.
Yeah they are good. And I'm thinking if they don't include the May dump from before the season started the 2020 chart is probably going to look somewhat fittingly like this:
Skied Skyline and Woodie top to bottom this afternoon.
Pock marked firm snow was actually really good to ski. Little bit of gardening on the lower third. Standard and Bourke St still have a good cover - but massive meltage in the past 24 hours due to serious 'anti snow weather'.
Disappointed and p*ssed by the effective extension and tough covid milestones imposed on regional vic on Sunday. No one saw that coming for regional vic...
That was the year I made 100 on the Saturday and ski'd the Sunday.
Good way to spend a weekend
Standard and Bourke St groomed late today. Only one run today - Skyline down groomed Standard. V nice.
Wood run now dead.
It’s bizarre and quite nice to still have reports trickling in
Nice of them to groom Bourke Street for the likely final time. Last few days have been a massacre on cams.
Bourke St groomed and this at the top of BB1. Looks like a start area for races.. " The Puffer Jacket inaugural Cup"
Lunch time drop into standard. Made it down to Bull run chair. No one about - race club and TBR kids had gone. Skied well with some sharks towards the end. Skinned back up to top of Bourke St - slow and sticky back down to Village.
Gotta be close to kaput - but each day I look out at lunch time and think 'just one more'...
In theory, Buller could be able to reopen from Thursday, with regional tourism reopening.
Of course you would need snow.
if only they had some snow making weather...
Mose well get the mtb season started then
Trails on the sunny aspects will be drying out nicely.
MTB riding well a few trees to deal with though
open up? He he!
(Wish they could, I don’t see half a metre falling next Tuesday)
RIP Winter 2020 in Vic.
Looks like it hit 10 C today at the big 3 hills. Plus there's more rain heading this weekend.
At these temps and weather it would be hard to maintain a cover for long - even if there was metre on the main SM slopes!
Yep - looks like the snow gods have been making it a little easier for us here in the locked up suburbs.
(Holding onto the slightest 'good news' for the season)
All depends how desperate you are for a ski even if its down Bourke st swerving grass ! Lol, did see a few snowboarders getting some laps off the back of a Polaris helping them uphill
Cams looking good today...!
I was there. In looked great
But did you ski
Folks skiing lbs, looked ok
Rumour has it a lift might turn in the next few days.
Awesome. I so hope they do.
Yep Bourke St opening for a thank you day on Monday. Sounds like season passes only.
Bit stiff for the regionals that don’t have...
