So apparently we are now to have a "mt buller membership" rather than a season's pass. No buy now pay later like last year. And the youngest in the family who has a registered bpass (but not season pass) has received notification but not the two season pass holders. Still shaking my head.....

If you think about it though, it is a better proposition for all concerned.

You get a cheaper pass, though you pay a year in advance. They get your money earlier so that
    - they have guaranteed income
    - they don't have to borrow to do works over summer (and pay interest on that money)
    - they treat you like a "member"

Sounds like a reasonable tradeoff to me.

But last year they let me pay a deposit and then pay the balance later..... no longer. They also withdrew all of the benefits that our local school kids got (which wasnt much but it made a difference)

Unless any additional works will be undertaken, or more money invested in the mountain that otherwise wouldn't have, then Bullers borrowing habits aren't the customers concern.

As for being treated like a "Member".... [IMG] . A Membership wanchor-wall of fame and a facebook page? Falls / Hotham already offer O/S discounts when Hero Pass payment is made by December, and treat you to the usual Membership goodies of being "first in the know". Hero Pass full balance aint due till 2 months before the season starts.

I would say the decision to request the full 800 bucks up front, would also be partly (or mostly) due to the fact that Bullers snow is totally unreliable, and the cash in the bank would provide some "what if" relief for Management, and lock in Punters regardless of long term weather forecasts.

On opening weekend there was an Ipad full of people who hadn't paid the balance. Perhaps BSL had too many people changing their mind when the season was labelled a Fizzer.

At the end of the day, it's a $799 SP for Buller, which makes it a good deal.

    I'm in again.

How would the season have been labelled a fizzer on opening weekend ???

Can't you take an option for $50 so that if decide for whatever reason you can't take up the SP you can get refunded. (Disclaimer - haven't checked the details of that, just saw it was an option, so maybe not as simple as that)

So, are you saying you're so disappointed you won't be taking it up or, is it possible it's still a pretty good deal compared with 2 years ago and you'll be signed up before Nov 1st. [IMG]

    From the email I received:

Mt Buller recommends purchasing the Season Membership Refund Protection Plan.

You can buy your 2014 Season Membership now with the security and confidence that you can receive a part or full refund of your Season Membership in the event of illness or injury.

    Absolutely.

I doubt Buller would demand any sort of supporting documentation [IMG]

Not sure how charging $50 more for student passes, eliminating the B-Tag credit (we had $50 credit adult and $25 credit student), no deposit now/pay later plan, earlier payment requirements for discount (now Nov 1 instead of Dec 31) makes for a 'good deal'

Also to patronise me that I can ski 'all Sept' with my new pass if I pay fully for it now....what then do I do with my existing 2013 SP?....and realistically how many more weeks (or should I say days) are left in the season with the current weather and melt.....

Mt Buller should treat their current SP holder's with more respect instead of pedalling this lame new 'membership' crap as something worthwhile.

In real terms I have to pay more, pay earlier and get less next year.

I'm not overly thrilled about paying the entire amount up front, but like it's going to stop me...

As for the $50 credit, well I haven't used mine from this year yet!!! But that's more to do with my preferred dining/drinking venues not being BSL establishments this year. Last year we had no problem motoring through the $200....

    This.

I remembered on Sunday that I still had my credit, so we did Tirol for lunch. An hour and a half later...

Think of it this way, you pay now and bitch, then forget about it, and when the season rolls around you dont have to pay anything and you think damn this is good, good thing I paid this last year. And you can spend the $800 on more ski gear [IMG]

Yeah, the food queues (even with so few people) were massive! At least the view was nice.

For those already with season passes (of which I am not a member), they should offer a $50-100 discount for renewing the pass, that would make everyone happy and keep it as a 'loyalty' membership.

At least they released the pass before the closing date of the other resorts this year.....

No surprises here, but I won't be buying it, especially with the full amount up-front!

aagh up front is critical for ski resorts.
If you read the Qantas financials carefully , you will see a 113M profit be only several million after some interesting impairment reversals etc , then looking at cash you will see how dependant they are on up front cash for liquidity .
Ski operators are pretty much the same ,,
should have done it years ago.
As Verm says pay now , bitch and moan then feel pretty damn good when next season comes around. ( caveat : if you ski enough)

Spent the $50 credit on a Smith helmet today as a present, and got an extra 10% off as a season pass holder. Not a bad deal. But the daughter wants Hotham/Falls next season, + the all resorts pass + the fuel + the nice overnight lodging at Hotham. Hmmm. Can I put her on that Buller "Buy/Sell/Swap" page??? [IMG]

at buller sic we took someone's advice and went to tirol for a late brekkie. What a mistake. Took forever and very little choice if you don't want eggs.

Next morning went to snow pony and was much happier.

I'm curious to see if other options will be offered again as well, such as the 6-day anytime pass. And whether they will be a general option, or only offered in seasons forecast to be mediocre.

So what do people think of the free 5-day lift pass at Trois Vallees for Buller 2014 'members'? Sorry if this has already been discussed.

    Yeah just saw that.

Given that I'm more than likely to head to France next year, have a flexible approach and friends in Courchevel I'm a reasonable chance to use that benefit.

    Nice little value-add. [IMG]

Just saw that 5 days free in Trois Vallees [IMG]

Also the USA Epic Pass gives 5 days too, seems that the Trois Vallees like the idea of attracting season pass holders from other countries and with good reason as well [IMG]

It's $282 of free skiing basically!

I would like to know how easy it would be to pick up the pass though with the Mt Buller pass in hand......... [IMG]
