Surely they could have fixed it by now? It has been almost 2 weeks.

A lot of time and effort would be saved if the lift company simply told us the state of affairs with snow making, the reasons for it failing and the action planned and time to fix it.
But they prefer to lie to us and treat us like mushrooms and then people have to waste a lot of time finding out while we all try to guess what is going on.
In the end we will find out to the degree they may as well have told us anyway instead.
The same end results but the via the lie and bluff method all they dont hide anything in the end and all they do is trash any shreds of trust customers might have in them.

Do they have to tell us?

Obligation is surely to shareholders only?

They only have to be transparent to customers that are impacted by the snow making deficiencies if they want customers to trust them.
If they dont care that not doing so will dimish any "benefit of the doubt" customers might give them in future then I guess there is no need for disclosures.

If the Aus ski industry, retail and resorts do not have trust and confidence to offer customers then the next mechanism on deciding where to spend their coin will be price, and Aus will loose that battle.

Times are changing and the world is smaller now with online competition from overseas flooding us so if the ski resorts want to fiddle the conditions reporting for the next 40 years as they have done for the past 40 years then best of luck to them, they'll need it.

Are changing? They changed years ago.

Don't see anyone trying to BS their way through anything here. If the output of snowmaking is reduced then the resort can offer less terrain that's all that matters not why it is reduced. I think most people would be thinking that they make the most snow they possibly can. it's in the resorts interests to do so.

Next you'll probably want to know where they get the diesel or grease from or what washing powder they use for the hire clothing.

It appears you are blurring so many issues and agendas together over this that you can't actually make any logical sense of it.

now is it actually a pump owned by bsl or someone else. you cannot blame the lift company if it is someone else"s pump which is broken

I could provide some explanations for my position on this but frankly I dont think I need to justify my consumer concerns and expectations of some transparency..

Its a ski forum and there is a reason there is a reporting thread here
People seek independent reports on issues that effect the product we are being sold by the resort rather than relying on information from them alone and those with commercial interests in the resorts economic position.

If anyone has some information of use to the question put about snow making then post it.

How do you figure that when BSL runs the mountain??

Are you saying that the RMB are responsible??

RMB may control how much BSL can take from the creek for snow making.
Keeping in mind RMB operates in part as second tier environmental authority as they are appointed by the DSE, resorts management for commercial purposes seems to be a secondary directive of the RMB.

This issue was raised a few weeks back.

From memory RMB involvement was suggested to be one of the main roadblocks...

As for them reporting any issues its simple.

This is a product claim stating they have facilities that provide improved snow conditions to the benefit of the customer.

    http://www.mtbuller.com.au/Winter/Snow-Report/Snow-Making

If they do not put the rubber to the road in those claims they need to explain why they cannot.

As for anyone having an agenda you mention, what is your agenda in here making excuses for the lift company when clearly other customers like the OP want to know more about the snow making not less.

the water is pumped in, it is not filled from run off.

My Wife talked to a guy there a few weeks back, that said it had a leak
and they are repairing it. The helicopter tried just once to get water from
it around the same time and failed. So they had a portable tank set up
in the CSIR carpart, which it used for a few days.
