sooo who feels like spending their saturday digging. the upper rope and pullies look mightly deep considering you cant see that 2m+ snow fence at the top. I would love to see a shot of Rodway if any one is heading that way. looks too good to miss

The reports I heard was there was considerable snow cover, particularly in the sheltered areas like the Golden Stairs. All the mountains in the West and South West are well covered (looking from Mt Wellington), if you go to the Bushwalk website there are some nice pictures of other nearby places.

I was up there on Sunday. Went touring over Rodways & Tarn Shelf. Heaps of snow - won't get into a "best in x years" argument but it was very good. Rodway is plastered but a bit crusty. Should only take a couple of hrs to dig it out and de-ice.

Had an awesome weekend of skiing with a lot of walking, digging and skiing. Worked out i did about 900 vertical meters of walking on Saturday. Rodways was loaded with snow with great snow on the skiers right of the lift line. The stairs was good early on saturday but a bit soft towards the bottom, lines could be found all the way across. Probably best cover top to bottom i have seen in a very long time, at least no cornice to worry about yet. Not even the creek to jump over or get stuck in on the last run home down the stairs. When Mawson tow finally got going on Sunday it was a bit hard at first then got better after every run. Bring on next weekend. Could we already have a 2 meter party?

I have always wanted to ride Rodway, but it hasn't been open when I've been up there.
If it's dug out, I'm tempted to fly down from Melbourne just so I can ride it, but I'm unsure of my nutcracker riding skills on such a steep slope.

Mt field consists of 3 rope tows. If the rope isn't strung correctly or is pulled down by careless and annoying people before a dump or in this case a very big dump it gets buried quickly under the weight of the snow as has to be dug up before the tow can run.

That is simply awesome cover for Mawson, I can hardly remember ever seeing it this good. What a bummer as I broke my leg at Hotham two 1/2 weeks ago, especially when you have top snow cover and blue bird days. Enjoy the snow guys !!!!

Yikes, having spent a few nights at one of the places overlooking Lake Dobson, I can't imagine it being frozen that solid. [IMG]

It was at least 6 inches thick with about 0.5cm of icing sugar on top, it was magic, sun and not a breath of wind. Its the best I've seen it.
I spent ages towing the little fellow across the lake with him hanging onto my pole.

Another weekend of blue sky days and great skiing. Did a few runs on the lifts first up, then went out to the Tarn Shelf on both days. Had some great runs just wished I had gone out further on the opening weekend.

Hey i lost a rossi board around the stairs area last Sat. Just wondering if anyone came across it?

I was up around the 23rd? from memory? and there was a notice up where you get your nutcracker/lift pass saying that a snowboard has been found. So someone has found a snowboard, keep on asking around and you should find it.

I also went down the stairs, and I fell most of the way. I finished at the bottom with one ski and the other was still at the top, it was too steep and icy to climb back up to retreive the ski, so I left it there. If anyone grabs it let me know, if not it doesn't matter because those skis were prehistoric and I need an excuse to get some better ones.

Was good fun up there today. Pretty nice snow and fair bit of it. Mawson tow had good cover. Uni bit more patchy and didn't check out rodway. Plus side can currently board whole way back to the car park without any issues.

Went up today for a quick look. Got to the car park and the drizzle had started. Up top it was still wet with the occasional snow flakes. Had about 6 runs on Mawson, the snow was a bit slow but still fun. Enough snow to ski from the top of mawson down to the top loading station. The Jeep track had snow on it all the way back to the car park. Hopefully more snow later this week. Uni had only enough for snow play.
