Awesome and inspirational quick trip in these interesting times.

What was the final detailed itinerary?

Made it back home safely so it's a wrap for this TR.

This was a spur of the moment trip. Mt Hutt recently had a 4m snowfall and this was before the snow fell here in Oz. So my thinking at the time was:
  • There's snow at Mt Hutt in NZ (and at that stage there was no snow in Oz)
  • I have a season pass to ski at Mt Hutt (through my unused 3 peaks pass)
  • I have QFF points saved up that need to be used
  • It's a long weekend here but not in NZ
  • It's not school holidays in NZ
  • The travel bubble is open to NZ
  • I want to go skiing OS again
  • I want to go skiing OS again
  • I want to go skiing OS again
So I went.

@skifree knows I like an itinerary to work off, for this time:

@Donzah is quite correct in saying EFTPOS, Visa and Mastercard work in NZ as do our electrical stuff ;)

The drive up to the top of Mt Hutt was extremely doable in a proper 4WD, in fact it wasn't taken out of 2WD. I imagine that with a bit of snow and ice it's a totally different kettle of fish.

There's almost 2 months until I head back on over. Definitely want to ski Mt Hutt again when more of the hill is open, do some club fields and also do Remarks/CP at Queenstown. Perhaps even catch up with @Heinz for a ski ;) Until then it's the NSW resorts.

Hutt is no problem any time in 2WD - just need chains. It's actually the 4WD vehicles with normal tyres who think they don't need chains that are the problem.

So little snow in spots over there at the moment.
It's not unusual for NZ ski fields to take a while to get going.

Australian ski fields open on Queens Birthday weekend because, well, it's a long weekend.
