Excellent conditions this morning. Consolidated sugar snow on the trails, softening off them.
On the new NTN rig; turned most of the way down to Road 24. 220 m of vert. Stoked.

Mt McKay shed; the toppled radio mast is from the strong winds early in the season

    Bogong in the distance

Thanks Ziggy. You entered and exited via Road 24?

Nothing like a 600m ascent on skis. At least going home is nice.

Nooo. I'd still be up there.
Came across from the resort 'Summit': Headwater bowl, Mt McKay Rd, Mt McKay. Down to Road 24, and skied back up into the resort.

OK not as exciting as Ziggy's but 3 of us went out to McKay today saw a snowboarder and AT skier.
3 x 200m vertical runs.Snow was good not too soft or suncuppy.
No photos - you know what telemark turns look like.
Unfortunately access road is closed at gate.
Still lots of snow as good as it gets for mid October.

Mostly skied up the McKay road which goes thru the resort then the south facing ring road .
Used the kicker skins I bought from Ziggy, then full length skins to climb McKay.
Its a descending traverse the whole way back but still takes over 1 hr.
There is so much snow that you could drive to McKay when the road is cleared and still ski it in about 2 weeks.
