On the weekend of 13/14th. Fine, fresh cover on the Saturday. Skied all the way from the Tallangatta club hut out to Mt Wills south and stayed in the summit hut. Beautiful soft, turning snow. Fine, warm weather. Saturday night a gale blew up and it was crusty on the tops on Sunday. As we descended it got softer but we took off the skis and walked the last 500 metres because of gaps in the cover.

Mt Wills is off the Omeo Highway between Mitta Mitta and Omeo. I have only come in from Omeo and it is a long windy drive with a fair amount of dirt road. I recall that the turn-off to Mt Wills is not very well signposted so it is worth having a good map - fortunately, it sneaks into the corner of the Outdoor Leisure Series Bogong Alpine Area map. Park near the Ski Club hut which is only a few kms off the Omeo Highway. Chains may also be useful.

I would estimate 6 hours driving time (at least) from Melbourne via Bairnsdale and Omeo.

No big runs, all in trees except lil bit at top and the cleared bit at tallangata ski club which is only 1400m ASL or so

there was a thread here earlier about Melb's closet BC and there was mention of some stuff in off the Warburton Hwy

How would that compare to Wills (seems a bit to far now)

I need to be close to melb and can't go the usual Feathertop or Howitt et al as i may be a father this weekend
