Yep all things that could describe Eagle Way!

And all things to be intimidated by on your first trip!

Glad you are trying again sbm!

Sometimes runs are just too hard first go round!

But which way are you avoiding (and why) to need to download on the Gondola?
    1. Panorama -> Cedar Trail -> Forest Line to the town double chair?
    2. Suginohara connection trail back to Shirakaba Trail to the bottom of the gondola?
    3. Mitahara Connection trail from top of gondola to Panorama?

I think he is referring to the one in top which my wife also found a bit daunting at the beginning. One is, effectively, too narrow. And the one is a bit steep for beginners

It's not the cat track at the very top of Sugi, because you don't/can't download on the gondola from there.

Every time I see you post I am reminded of a photo I took of a Qantas magazine a few years back that I am pretty sure featured an offspring of yours? If so did you ever see the article? I'm pretty sure I still have the photo somewhere.

In other news, 2 more sleeps till fly out day and then a torturous week in Perth until I get to Myoko. Currently not sure if I should be packing powderboard or ice skates

Hmmm not sure retsej. I have a vague recollection that he was in one... Wasn't the pic of the Fyve crew and the little jumps they'd knocked up outside Owashi?

But what date are you in Myoko? 6 days until I'm on the plane!

I'll have to find it, its on an old phone backup as it was a couple of years ago. I may be barking up the wrong tree (woof)

We roll into town Monday 22nd, staying near the gondola :)

This one. The awkward zigzag cat track right off the top was too much first thing in the morning. After a warmup it was fine.

Rain has stopped. Temps below zero.

All primed for the next fall.

A slick layer across all of Japan by the sound of it. Extra caution will be required once it starts dumping again.

Can someone tell me if I can buy lift tickets, with bank card in Madarao?

I usually pay with cash, but Tangram is a Tokyu Resort, so you can probably buy with card there if you're going for the dual mountain Tangram/Madarao ticket.

Because the pictures were taken yesterday:)

It's a project named "Furu Satto". Furu Sato means like "One's spiritual home" in Japanese. Furu Satto is to make more tourists experience Myoko area's local sake, wine, foods, handicrafts, etc. It will open next month. Local people want to make the most of the new Shinkansen station.

Must go and have a look. A friend of mine was offered restaurant space there but ultimately declined.

They've also been building apartments behind the station so the push is on to grow that area. The rumour is that quite a few apartments were bought by Chinese buyers.

Some Chinese media are covering Myoko tourism and Chinese people are buying real estates there, I guess it's good for local economy there in Myoko;)

Unfortunately none of those restaurants are in Myoko. However the owner of Hotel Takeda (opposite us) is a sake connoisseur and is always happy to arrange tastings.

Gees looks good but it would be long way to travel. Closest is the one restaurant in Joetsu.

Hokuriku Shinkansen got opened last March, and this weekend is the one year anniversary and a lot of events and festivals are held around Hokuriku Shinkansen stations, including Joetsu Myoko station. Many street stalls are built and you can eat yummy foods which represent Hokuriku area(It's a contest, and you rate & vote for the food stalls). If you are in Myoko this weekend, you should visit;)

SO you've been going to Niseko for 10 years, without visiting other places? Wow!!! ;)
So how long will you be at Niseko, before going to Myoko?

Hire a car and drive around a bit after skiing the 4 @ Myoko. Lots of good little hills within 1hr, lots on good food & onsens on the way home from said hills.
Best tip is to go where it is snowing ;)

Going to skip the car hire this time around as I will be by myself as the rest of the crew would have headed home by the time I get to Myoko, decided to hook up with a tour group from Aus and get guided around the area each day
