Hello Myoko Kitty could be good. The big Myoko Kogen sticker is bloody huge. Have a smaller one from Togakushi. Oh I love that mountain.

Thanks Dave,I better explain. We live in Darwin and I think because of the Inpex gas project($34 billion Aus dollars)we now have a Jetstar flight Darwin-Manila-Tokyo .The last eight years we have flown Darwin-Cairns -Narita.But we were advised by Jetstar staff member, ironically their call centre is in Manila, that to get the airfare that was on special we should book Darwin -Manila- Tokyo.
BUT this means we have to check out and back in in Manila and of course by this stage plane has gone. They refuse to change booking to direct to Narita, say its our stuff up and until they check the recording(15 business days) bad luck.So we pay an extra $950.00 each to JAL to get to Narita and back to Manila.
Such is life,a lesson,we may get looked after by Jetstar, if not, flamboyant_expletive it we are going skiing! We dont get too much snow in Darwin.Just hope as usual we dont get a cyclone while we are away!

Bad luck hotaski. Fingers crossed for you. We fly Air Asia a lot and we always had to go out through immigration and check in again with bags. Also we'd have to book 2 separate fares. Fortunately they have seen the light recently and now we can book connecting flights and not have to check in again. Next frontier is open jaw flights. Last year had to book KL-Osaka one way then Tokyo-KL one way.

I could put a map on the arse end as a conversation piece at barbies Joe. [IMG]

We drove to Joetsu Monday evening to pick up someone. Blizzard all the way there and eased up on the way back. Got one of the boys to dig the car out before we left - we went out 30 minutes later and his mother (not me) thought he had not dug the car out as it was buried and the snow plough had been doen the street and pushed snow in behind the car.

On the way back we rescued someone stuck in the middle of the road up to Akakura opposite the station turnoff. They were in a front wheel drive vehicle and buried up to the axles. It was a small car and we manhandled it back to Route 18. My neighbour says it happens everytime it snows.

Had dinner next door. Highly recommend Pension Bunk or Bonko Pension as a nice venue for dinner. You need to book before hand and don't try to go on busy weekends. We had a set menu. Great food and inexpensive for what we had.

I caught the that flight the other day , and saw a family of 3 just enter the departure lounge when the plane landed in Manila, they then boarded the flight to Tokyo with everyone else ?

"Merchandising, merchandising, where the real money from the movie resort is made. Myoko-the T-shirt, Myoko-the Coloring Book, Myoko-the Lunch box, Myoko-the Breakfast Cereal, Myoko-the Flame Thrower."

Seriously though, t-shirts, hoodies, stickers, boardshorts would all work for me.

Edit: and cripes, how many posts do I need before tags work?

OK, Didn't check the location of hotsaki, my bad! But, there are other ways to get there, surely!
How about Darwin-Singapore, then Japan? might be a better option? Dunno for sure, but worth investigating later (or getting the +1 to do the investigation again - Is it good that hotsaki can blame her for the stuff-up, or what??)

Hey, skichanger would surely buy the flamethrower. Would work well with both snow clearing and pests.

No no blame to +1 just the d`head from Junkstar.Even if they dont come to the party with a refund if we divide $1K by our whole life so be it.At the end of the day we are going skiing again in Japan at a new spot. Were not worrying,we`re happy.3AM tomorrow morning Myoko/Nosawa here we come.(As long as Jetstar doesnt cancel the flight!)
PS I vote for flamethrowers and stubbie coolers. We dont want hot beer whilst we are melting snow eh?

It's currently puking and has been since lunch time. Tomorrow could be deeeep

In other news, thoroughly recommend udon no fu, underneath 'Pomodoro'. Had the squid ink, cheese and garlic udon and it bent my mind. Seats about 20 people at a stretch; the proverbial cat could not be swung in there! Awesome little place!

Met hotsaki at Hotel Windsor tonight, great bloke. Learnt there's such a thing as "rocksitting" (see http://www.rocksitters.com.au/). Sounds amazing! I'll have to get up to Darwin and join in sometime.

As AJC13B said, has been puking since around 11am. Gonna get first lifts at Seki tomorrow. YEAAAH!

Satomi's husband said a meter has fallen since yesterday afternoon. After burying myself multiple times on 2 of the hardest runs of my life in 'hotel a' I'd say a metre would be pretty close. Just wow

Seki was absolutely epic today. No crowds, and top lift opened at about 11am. They reported 100cm overnight and it was snowing all day, snowfall got heavier from about 3pm and it's still pumping down.

Could be the best week of the season!

Is it worth forgoing sugi or iken...the other resort on our big 4 ticket to get a day at seki? Would be Monday before we could get there

IMO Sugi has the best terrain of the big 4. Go to Iki if you want to hit park.

Seki isn't included on your ticket but a day pass is only 3500 yen. Go there if there's a good storm and you have a desire to be nipple deep. They usually update their website reasonably early in the day, it's in japanese but you can see what the overnight accumulation is.

    Looks like this:

The best place we ate at was up at the end of the main street on the left hand side and down stairs with the white door. Can't remember the name of the place, but the banquet we had there was superb.

The deepest snow I ended up skiing in my 6 week Japan trip was a Seki Powder day.

Will avoid iki then and hit sugi.

Seki page open and translated! Thanks!

Did you go in the door straight ahead or take a left at the bottom the stairs? Straight ahead is 'Kei' izakaya.

Downstairs on the left. According to MG's map Kei is on the left and Hoheto is on the right.

Hitting seki solo tomorrow! Hopefully this snow keeps up tonight and gives me nice freshies tomorrow!

Sugi was a weird mix today. Epic first run through knee deep fresh on the black run off the left of top chair, then ate major shit on second run on black to right of the chair. Clipped a mogul under the fresh stuff, put me on my back and then bounced off the next mogul. Ouch.

Temp got warm, mid mountain turned to wet cement, got nicer down lower though. Could spend a lot more time at Sugi for sure!

Thank you for your kind words RM.Havent had much time to post anything but loving Myoko.Few small negatives like Skate Bar hangover. We left at 1.30 Monday morning. Not very well Monday.
Today we skied Sugi ,loved it although my sister lost a ski and Alex ran in to Bernadette and has concussion. We have to monitor him through the night.
Just about to hit the village again ,can we stay away from the Skate Bar?
    More later.

Getting on the plane to Tokyo tonight. As long as I don't get on the wrong train I should be in Myoko tomorrow early afternoon. I am staying at the Hotel MOC.
Anyone know where I can buy some snow shoes in Myoko?

Cheers Fred, I checked it out but they did not seem to have my size.
I wasn't planning on going skiing until tomorrow but couldn't wait and got a half a day lift pass. It was lightly snowing on and off all day.
I'm travelling on my lonesome so if anyone wants to meet up for a drink that would be awesome.

How long are you there for Macgyver?
I don't arrive until Wednesday next week however.

Is anyone else going to be around then?

I'll be leaving on the 4th of March to Tokyo and be there for a few days.
The list on page 1 is a little outdated. There is a later list on page 37.

Yep, unfortunately can't update on Page 1 anymore.

Is there anyone I need to update with on a new list? Been offline regularly as I travel for work. Trying to duck up to Myoko as I have time but will def be there with the family from end of March for spring skiing and cherry blossoms.

Looking like f/t for us from August on. All those who promise drinks no longer have any excuse from next season. [IMG]

Had a magic day at Sugi with Junior yesterday, a few days of decent snowfall and very low temperature followed by a beautiful, clear, sunny day. Some of the fastest runs I've ever had through trees, conditions were perfect.

Been a while since we've had a few days of no snow. Getting warm on Thursday/Friday (max of 7 degrees at the base of the hill, with rain!) before it starts snowing again on Friday night.
