after skiing at Perisher for the last 30 years, (board rider) and a break of 2 years (thanx covid), now its time to make a change, and look at riding at Thredbo for the first time,
basically, pros and cons of accommodation locations. must have car parking.
seen cheap rooms a the southern end in cabins, but doesn't seam to have parking,
lots of places at the northern end have garages but have more $$, .
food availability? i am assuming not an issue with the village restaurants. but during the day on the mountain etc
Best runs for a good mix of the Thredbo experience..

You choose the year they jack up season prices by 100% as the year to first ski Thredbo?

Anyway from what I’m seeing outside August there will be plenty of accomodation choices.

My usual season is mid to late August for a week, and another mid Sep for good spring riding, been my usual times at Perisher, and always had good cover for Australia at those times, i am assuming thredbo will still be top to bottom around then... as for prices, its Australia, i expect to get r**ped financially.

Keeping an eye on this as hoping to ski Thredbo first time late August. Good discount on lift passes if you buy early. Accomm v reasonable, too.

There is plenty of overnight parking but unless the accom provides it at the front door the overnight parking is located in the everyman overnight car park.

Hey @Ultra2.0 of you can’t get parking on site there are dedicated o/night car parks a five or ten minute walk from anywhere in Thredbo.

If you are after parking with a charger, that will be limited however there is a Tesla charger available for use near the upper square. From memory maybe two hours parking available there, although I am sure the maps electric folks use will be up to date.

If in Thredbo for the week skiing there is usually no need to drive anywhere, so you could charge over an evening or two after skiing to be full for the return trip.

Thredbo guest services may be able to assist re the charger availability as well.

So far as runs, if its on, Funnelweb for sure, Highnoon and Supertrail because (I usually ski Worldcup over ST, but you should do one ST from the tippy top), True Blue. Off piste off Karels, and Central Spur area Ts. Thats a classic set for an experienced skier, which I assume. Heaps more to find.

Squatters as an example - it has undercover parking but it is on a level below the apartments. Too far to run an extension cord if that is a factor.

Late September at Perisher is usually two areas and 27 lifts or so nowadays. Snow conditions permitting.
Smiggs and Guthega closed.

Ha, that what I prefer to ski anyway, except when it's it's on. Actually, I like skiing slush so I don't mind the lower mountain even in spring.

Thredbo is actually a pretty simple resort to get your head around, there's the Gunbarrel side and the Kosi side. On the GB side there's Highnoon and Dream Run to get you back to the bottom. On the Kosi side there's the ST plus variants or Ramshead trails to get you to the bottom. Lift wise there's Merritt linking the two sides of the mountain.

Then there are basically three areas up high, from skiiers left to right Merritts, the central.spur and the Basin.

My typical plan for groomer day is the get a coupe of runs in on ST or Highnoon then head high and try to find some windblown. On a fresh day well, who has friends on a power day. On a wind hold day, pack your skin's. When it's clear snow in the village check the temps at the top station, you never know your luck. Of course my plans very rarely work and I'm easily lead astray.
