Interesting, I reckon the worst corner is coming out of Jindy going up the hill, it swings left then back to the right just before the end of the overtaking lane. The corner tightens really quickly and so many people drift out of their lanes.

wasn’t it two season ago that they left most of the cars on the side of the road that had had issues? I removed three or four of them sitting there for the season.
There was one year that the road had just been resurfaced and they left gravel on the road. Cars off everywhere.

not sure, I just remember the same three or four cars sitting for most of the season as if they had been left as a subtle reminder.

It’s not that hard to drive to Thredbo, I’m making up ( cutting and re welding 19 inch ) snow chains to fit my MG. Planning on driving it at least one day to either Thredbo or Perisher just for the fun of it.

Hi scottski
I too have a TC - in fact two TC/9507 the road car and TC/4134 the race car :)
When I am back at RCS on Wednesday I will do a chain check on a 4.50 x 19 and let you know the most correct chain size.
Cutting and welding of any snow chain is 100% wrong.

I think they were staff shitters. Cant afford the tow, so abandon. Rego was probably to someone no longer in the country. Eventually council pays to get rid of them.

Yeah I completely agree about people drifting out of their lanes up there. I am happy flooring it up there when no other traffic is around. But in traffic....I choose where I pass people up that hill.

Let me know. We we’re planning on tig welding the links and ex ray testing after. We spoke with a small Swiss company that build bespoke chains and that is what they advise. The reality is these would only be carried for compliance. I live on the alpine way, I probably would not take the TC up the hill on a snow day. I drive the road daily.
Love to chat about the TC’s. If you can find chains that fit would be worth looking at it.

Was commenting on the steepness you goose. OP can’t do hill starts (should hand in licence). Will roll backwards if they have to stop on that hill, which happens often because people can’t merge!
Can do hill starts?? Dont know where that came from. I dont like hills doesnt mean I cant do hill starts

I was taking the piss - calm down. OP has already read, multiple times, that its an easy drive and has since moved on to questions about gear hire.
Thank you, yes. I appreciated everyones input here and im not worried about the drive. Yes I can get nervous on steep af hills that feel vertical. But otherwise im fine. Thanks to those who understood that.

Next Q was hiring which a few answered, thank you.

just got to wait for lift passes now, if im not gonna get them then no point worrying about anything :). Thredbo taking their time releasing season passes in this late hour.. next month passes will prob release at 11:59pm on last day of april

Today I checked the RUD chains from my Audi urquattro on the 19" TC wheels fitted with 4.50 - 19 tyres and they fit like a glove.
RCS have these RUD chains in stock. (new & used available)
