Even so, i would have though he would want feedback on stuff that isn't working. In many cases that will be something he knows about or isn't surprised about because he's working on something that could cause the problem. In some cases it could be very useful information.Richard already knows it's unstable. He's the one making it so with frequent changes.
I switched to the latest version. It was fine for a while, then I got intermittent (the worst word in troubleshooting) failures of centre click and right click and select to open in a new tab. I have reverted to the old version and everything is fine. No problems on other sites. Win 10 and Chrome.

He does now if he didnt before
exactly - bring back 3.1 I say!
That's a post count on the page, singles let you go up and down by one post, doubles to the top or bottom post on the page. The Nav bar we were talking about earlier in the thread.Seriously liking it!
Win10 current, Chrome current, doing nothing different from what I used to do like ... this morning!
Not quite understanding the 9/9 with up double and single chevrons to the left and down single and double chevrons on the right. Hovering gives a javascript void message. Not a biggie, I'll just ignore it if not relevant.
correctI'm guessing the new theme had sfa to do with the db problem
yup, moving host after 15 years with the one provider is taking a lot of prep.Although a commitment to make big changes will always bring risks
And this morning it has been stable.![]()
Minor issue, presumably with new theme
Sometimes the forum menu items do not show (galaxy tab a tablet with chrome). This is happening less frequently than when the theme was first available.
Sometimes rotating to portrait will fix it. Sometimes it is necessary to navigate to another page
Example - the block between the black and blue headers is blank when it should have menu items. On this occasion rotating fixed it

absolutely understand that it is a beta without a lot of priority for minor stuff. Just reporting something for the list in case it wasn't already thereI've noticed that too. It's always on tablets and phones.
It is entirely related to changes of viewport hiding and revealing the menu. Something in the css must be just one or two pixels trigger happy.
I've not done much with the theme lately. Have been distracted with organising and testing the site move to AWS.
I want to re-organise the menu but any changes with global setting will effect both themes. I don't like the wasted space of the first row with just the logo.
It's well and truly a beta
I think this is the same platform that Pugski uses. They don't have Active Topics, just New Unviewed.New Unviewed is very similar.
Active topics was a custom hack, to map with UBB (the forum platform from 1999-2013). The default theme has both New Unviewed and Active Topics.
I'm not convinced we need both. Almost no-one clicks New Unviewed v's Active Topics. So have not made up my mind what I will do when I customise it - every hack of the templates makes it that bit harder to cleanly update when a new version of the theme is released - so want to keep it minimal.
Anyway, that's the sort of missing item that I mean by saying the theme is 'still a bit raw'
Yay @Richard ! User bar and Nav bar combined!Even an allegedly super-savvy site like Medium gets the change of direction thing wrong. Especially on mobile, where the last thing you want is to have your limited screen space being taken up by useless crap when all you did was scroll back up a little to re-read.
Removing the Nav bar stickiness is key for me, the user bar is slim, unobtrusive and useful.
Now, if the actual post counter nav part of the nav bar was actually on the LHS of the User bar, we'd have the best of both worlds!![]()
On the very small complaint front, I liked the colour of the user bar better![]()
Very minor thing - the "x new alerts" popup is still appearing (on desktop Chrome) but when clicked on, doesn't seem to do anything any more. Been like this for a couple of weeks.

mobile or desktop?
I should have said that was on iDevicesthe row of links
Support & Feedback Announcements Active Topics
seems to have a smaller, paler font?
Active Topics is the link I use most often
older eyes like mine might prefer larger and darker
another odd thing: I typed the names of those links above with 4 spaces between each but they only have one when posted
I seriously miss "new unviewed". I mostly use that with "active topics" only when I want to go back to something recent that hasn't been updated.
I'll pick what I'm interested in using "new" then progressively mark sub forums as read so they completely disappear from my feed.
Couldn't agree more. I can go weeks without using active topics but use new unviewed constantly.I seriously miss "new unviewed". I mostly use that with "active topics" only when I want to go back to something recent that hasn't been updated.

But if we are in the minority then i guess we'll just have to cope. On desktop i have bookmark in the bar so i just click that to refresh the new unviewed list.

*scratch head*
Mark forums read has gone from individual forums. Can only see it from "top level" pages.
Can you clarify what you mean with screen grab from other theme pls.
Same, AndroidI think this is the same platform that Pugski uses. They don't have Active Topics, just New Unviewed.
What annoys me about New Unviewed is that once you've read a thread, it disappears from the view until someone else posts in it. I like using Active Topics as my default view here, and being able to go back into a read thread to reply to it or just re-read it.
Makes sense.I have discerned that this is a result of constant updates to the css files during devs. They are huge, sharded, and load with some sort of dependency approach where a couple async in late and the dom takes ages to paint or stalls.
Should be fine once the updates settle and css can cache for long periods.
I dont notice it on my desktop or iP7 at all, but have bought one of those 7" Aldi Andriod tablets and the combo of weak ass wifi chip and slow processor speed reveals the slow paint after every refresh.
I'm guessing that down your way you don't enjoy the same phat pipe ftth NBN I do and/or its an older GTab.
My win phone and 5yo iPad is also revealing this to a lessor extent with their older process speeds. There is no doubt that the iP7 SoC approach totally minces sophisticated js/css layouts at a rate of knots - and is not representative of the other 80% experience.
I can see what you are getting at. People contributing to this thread are unlikely to be the audience that you are thinking of in this respect. I think that as a new member i looked at things forum by forum. Active topics/new posts probably came with venturing into convo. Is there any one besides myself who actually likes the new category navigation that shows more of what is on offer?
A big objective is to reveal more of the topics with more intuitive traditional navigation for new members.
I personally find the over reliance on active topics as gateway to the forums drives a bit of a filter bubble of our own making. It is (imo) a Power User tool that has most value once one has past muster as committed community member. But any new member just sees a mountain of 'casual conversation' and they are late to the party - its not that inviting.
