Calendar summer is almost over. Am already thinking ahead to the snow season.

What does everyone have on their gear wishlist? Ski board or camping gear

As my 30th birthday is nearby, I think I will be celebrating with some additions to my quiver...starting with these oh yes please.

after riding snorklers dynastar legend 8000s last season down hoggs back in 4pm shade ice with unbelievable control, I realised with the right ski it is possible to have fun gripping and ripping up the resort with short turns. I'll Save the pipe cleaners for pow days

Yes absolutely. After riding edgeless park skis in the resort for so long, it was refreshing to ski something that could actually carve ⛷FIS inspired is exactly what I want for early morning or late afternoon resort sessions this season. Looking forward to grip and rip complementing backcountry forest adventure time

I used to ski Head iSL’s @170cm. Sometimes they did kick you. And yes they weren’t a full race slalom ski. But I could ski them without overdue attentiveness.

As for me...and those who know me may find this absolutely shocking...I have no new major ski purchases in mind. Maybe some skins? Mine seem to have gone missing.

My next major purchase is likely to be after this season, and after Japan 2020. I expect it will be either Völkl Mantra 102 or Nordica Enforcer 104, and in either case with the Salomon Shift bonding.

I spend every working day on a ski very similar to your iSL's (just a bit wider in the tip waist and tail). Those Sooeklis in the link are equivalent of two models up from where the iSL then sat in heads lineup.

I skied the 2010 Stockli laser SL, hired for a day as it was icy @Buller and my K2 Axis X were not too good on ice. They were amazing. Best carving ski I have been on, unshakable. The downside was taking them into the moguls. I tend to lean back a little in bumps and they chewed me up and spat me out. If you are not "on" them they will punish.

@hongomania Have a pair of Stockli Laser SX @178cm (and previously owned Laser SC). Most fun you can have on-piste with your clothes on. You should see if you can try a pair.

I'd like a new pair of adjustable ski poles and new inners for my old Raichle FE boots but I may have to settle for new socks

New socks are the most important piece of kit. Michael Jordan used to play every game with a new pair

They would be a fun ski, although slightly bigger dimensions and radius than the SL

I remember being in big white in 2006, jumping onto my mates stocklis (can't recall which model) and thinking to myself "ohhhhh so this is skiing"...they felt amazing. My mate is a truly gun skiier, I even managed to beat him in our top to bottom race riding his skis!

I bought a lightly used set of skins from another member before Christmas. Then my wife gave me a new set of skins for Christmas.

So now I have four skins.

I'd been on the lookout for a set of phats for a while. A couple of weeks ago I came across a NOS pair of 2015 Stöckli Stormrider 107’s marked down more than 60% to clear. Then I found a set of Attack demo bindings with 110mm brakes similarly discounted.

A little bit of digging turned up a plastic template for the bindings. Being demo bindings, it makes sense that the screw locations are fixed, so there's no messing around matching up the halves of paper templates to get the BSL right.

So my next purchase will be a mounting toolkit.

Try the DPS Cassiar A79t, it rips. The "t" is for trainer, as in race trainer. I think you would find it holds on like nobody's business but will be more enjoyable than a FIS ski. Not so much a one trick pony.
I couldn't put these down last season. Soo many turns, so much fun.

I have purchased Black diamond kicker skins and I am lay buying some Fischer Nordic Cruiser PB XC skis with NNN BC manual bindings new from EMC for AUD$360.00. They have full metal edges, they are 184 cms long but like my Classic Fischer skinny XC skis they are light and have a lot of camber/spring. They are a cross between my Madshus Epoch BC XC skis and my Fischer classic XC skinny skis. I think they will be ideal for what I do. Now who can guess what the ski season will be like?. At present there is not much swell at the surf beaches and I want to catch a wave.

I bring in Contour skins now.

They are available at Bruce's in Jindabyne and at Rhythm at the moment. That should change and we should get the range out to a few stores. They are much better skins than BD and G3.

I just replaced my 3 year old 2kW unit with a new 5kW, based exclusively on the ease of pulling it apart for repairs.
Otherwise, new shift bindings, boots, skins and maybe even skis (still saving).

I cannot ski with a heavy overnight pack on . I tend to snow shoe a short distance e.g. 3 hours of walking with skis strapped to the pack and set up a snow camp and then ski from there. However I might come to terms with ski skinning with a snow camping pack while towing it on a sled thingy. I shall experiment with it this XC ski season.

Coming back after a good number of years without going to the snow (managed a week in 2017, but nothing else this decade), I'm looking to start building a snowboard quiver.

I'm hoping that my feet like Burton boots, so I can try using Step Ons from the start. Looking to pair the Photon boots to something like a Burton Custom Camber or Deeps Thinker, or maybe a Jones Frontier (formerly known as the Explorer). For riding in Aus I am leaning towards snowboarding bibs and a skivvy type top, maybe with a hardshell jacket for non-bluebird days.

I'm also chasing a second hand Burton After School Special or Chopper set up for Mr 3-years-old, but those are pretty damn rare unfortunately.

Apart from getting some good goggles, I,m not so much looking at ski equipment this season. I am however going to Northern Norway and Svalbaard in December (arctic winter) so I am looking at getting some more cold weather gear, some of which might be used during the Oz ski season. I will be looking for some more base layers, insulated or heated boot insoles, maybe heated socks. I might look into some ski pants which can be used as over pants up in Northern Norway and Svalbaard. I suppose I will look into some sort of warm head wear and I will be getting Mont Icicle jackets for my wife and I. These things might be useful if I decide to do some camping in the snow in the near future.

Make sure you try on the Mont Icicles with all your under layers on before purchase. The new cut and fit is really strange and very skinny

Well I wasn't planning on buying anything for this season, but then while browsing online I noticed a tent I had been looking at for a while was on sale, so I bought it (Coleman Chalet 9CV). Then while doing a bit of shopping with the family I walked into the local ski shop to help with the SDS. They had 30% off store wide and a rack of stuff 50% off. Anyway I walked out with a new Jacket for myself (Dakine Smyth Pure 2L Gore-Tex), a new jacket for the youngest daughter and a new jacket and pants for the eldest daughter.

    Dunno

If the right pair of narrower touring sticks pop up I might grab them, to complement the 106 underfoot pair I have. Already have some Plum binginds ready to roll.

If I get a new job maybe a pair of new touring boots too.

I can see a full rockered 105ishmm underfoot in my future.

And potentially the start of a decent day-tripper side country set-up. Pretty much a Shift with a decent skiing ski.

Yep an all everything ski for OS with a soft snow bias (around 103-106mm underfoot) with Shift bindings is my next investment. Most likely 2020 though.
