    # Hope I didn't miss someone else's reply to this , but as the Kaman blades counter rotate, there is no need for a tail rotor.
The tail rotor is only to counteract the main rotor torque and is in fact a massive power drag.
Counter rotating rotors are extremely efficient, whether in the Kaman layout side by side , or counter rotating blades stacked on top of each other like the Kamov ka-32

    Brillant for lifting applications

Just making throw away lines Mark. In reality true, I hardly ever look at the monitor as I scoot through not taking an eye off everyone milling around - edited that bit out of this one my most recent run down RC, which I think is my favourite run at PB. Was hoping to repeat it again when down there a week later on nicer snow but didn't make it. Fingers crossed for this year.

Yeah, the problem with linking the live feed I suppose.

Chairs already on the lift should be a good sign that it will be ready to go when the snow arrives.

Interesting how they saw the introduction of this lift, way back in 2002 in the Plan...

    " 15.4.1 Increased lifting capacity
To better utilise the good slopes with reliable snow cover on the southern slopes of the Blue Cow
Mountain ridge, a new fixed grip quad chairlift is proposed to run from Blue Cow Creek east of the
bottom of the Cow Pastures platter lift to the top of the ridge next to the top of the Blue Cow T-bar.

This would greatly enhance use of the area for both general skiing and racing purposes. An
environmental assessment of lift options has previously been undertaken (Ref. 33) but this was
done when Guthega was a separate resort...

Access to the lift would be by both repeat skiers using the south-facing slopes, as well as skiers
circulating from Blue Cow and Perisher. The bottom station of the lift is expected to be located on the
south side of Blue Cow Creek
, where the terrain is less sensitive to disturbance than on the north side.

To reach this station, a bridge for skier use is proposed across Blue Cow Creek near the bottom
    station
    .
Construction of the quad chairlift would require a new access track to the bottom station.
    "

Looks like more chairs gone on today. I would think it would be ready to go by the end of the week. Would be good to get some shot of the bottom station if anyone is down that way.

I was under the impression early on that it would be a detachable chair. I then realised I had no reason to think so, and could see the top terminal didn't allow for it. If a conveyor load means they can justify running the chair a little faster than they would otherwise, great.

There are typically six splice points, they are indicated by white paint on the haul rope (it's a rope, not a cable).

Roof structure over bottom station ?
Not essential but all the newer chairs I can think of have basic cover ?

Edit might be a visual requirement of NPWS to reduce mass of the structure.
Up top I get it likely wind factor.

Naaa it's really wind effected, and facing the wrong way so the sun kills it pretty quick as it does all of Guthega.
It's too flat also so all of the long traverses are a pain on a snow board.

Decent fall line over the other side of the hill.... (north facing and prone to dampness doesn't matter.. ) ;)

Edit: Parachute's drop is more like 265m.

The runs down the old T-bar are fall line down the ridge (middle top in VSG's piccie) then hang a left to the bottom of the new chair, also fall line. Runs like Schnaxl & Screw are fall line, but involve a bit of a traverse at the bottom (but they always did). Have they pulled the old T out?

This one is not quite as helpful, might be clear later:
