A new website has been launched for the Hakuba region. Has plenty of information for people looking at going to Hakuba. Is the place for video reports, details on events, snow forecasts, snow cams, day trips and more. Very useful.

I think it isn't new as the associated facebook page says 2016. Maybe revamped.

A .com site so no restrictions on geographic names, which makes it potentially misleading if it is not an "official" site.

My suspicion is that it's a great information site (so props to the creator) trying to look like the official site. There's no About Us to confirm what it is (or not). Their FB page says:
Hakuba, Nagano, Japan - Follow for insider information, tips and recommendations. Official Facebook of Hakuba.com
Note that it doesn't say "Official Hakuba page"
Owned by Stuart Watson (a photographer)

Looks like it's run by Liquid Tours/Mountainwatch. Hate their ridiculously over the top video snow reports

Its got alot of pretty pictures, but isnt overly helpful IMO.

For example, if I've never been to Hakuba before so I check how to get there using this website. It gives me the options and rough times, but no $$$ to make informed decisions about which method is the best for my situation.

    Needs a bit of work.

'Hakuba is one of Japan’s largest and most well known alpine resort with 11 ski resorts to choose from'

What are the 11? I can count 9 that are still operational

It's so cryptic with who runs it, I can't find any links to the owners. The only clue is the MW forecast and video on the homepage. Probably designed that way, so somebody can push their accommodation, etc.

Well technically, unless you've got the worst snow in the world, you could have some of the lightest, driest.

Feel Powerless to do anything is my guess. Not sure about intellectual property etc in Japan. And Hakuba being a broad location it is difficult. .com has no restrictions on who can own and use the domain unlike .com.au and .jp domains.

Here we have all the IP legislation for registered IP as well as comm on law actions like passing off and various Fair Trading legislation. mmm need to bring myself up to date on this as it has changed significantly since I studied it.

I heard confirmation yesterday that Liquid bought Mountainwatch recently. Just the website. The zines and Coastalwatch remain with Coastalwatch Holdings
