This is my first time at falls, and I heard a funny rumour and just want to see how accurate it is. I have heard that on a certain night (not sure which night) that The Mann has a bring in your own drinking container, where for a fee they will fill it with beer. As I said just a rumour and wnat t nknow the truth, if you know and can verify it, let me know which night.

monday night - big cup night.

there are rules about the cup. I think it has to have a handle and fit under the tap. there may be other rules. it is very popular, but not my thing.

Monday is traditionally 'Big Cup Night' at The Man. Receptacles must fit under the tap and they must be a mug or stein (not a jug). Steins with a 1.3 lite capacity can also be purchased over the bar for about $20. Some patrons have been known to bring in 2 litre plastic thermos mugs. Distribution of contents is discouraged.

When i first started going it cost $2.50 i didn't have the Big Gulp at the time, when i started with the Big Gulp i think it was $4 or $4.50, the last time i was there it was $7, a mate has the 3ltr stein. They were happy for me to use it, being plastic kinda sux's but so does drinking NEW, the mug being insulated is great though. The BigGulp lid is pretty handy on the 3rd 4th don't usually get there cos can't stand the NEW, onto the Beams after the first couple.

yeh this thing was sick but was up last weekend and they now have changed it to $8 jug night. It's a shame they got rid of such a good tradition.

haha Spargo I will be at the Man Mon 13th Aug too. $8 jugs is still a good enough reason to go.

Big Cup gone? That's a shame. I have fond memories from season '99.

$8 jugs is a fair substitute though. They did that at Jack Frost at Hotham a while ago and I recall spending more time in there than on the slopes.

The week at Falls used to go like this:
Monday: Big Cup at The Man
Tuesday: Harvey Hour at the Motel then Pot and Shot at Frying Pan.
Wednesday: Pizza night at The Man
Thursday: Harvey Hour again then something at Fryers (can't remember what)
Friday/Saturday: Bands, usually at The Man.
    Sunday: Nothing.

Throw in the bars at Cedarwood (now gone), Winterhaven, Cafe Max, Feathertop, Attunga, Astra, Pretty Valley, Silverski, etc etc and you have plenty of options every night of the week. Falls really does beat the other resorts hands down for apres.

Yeah, they didn't get rid of it because they wanted to. Binge drinking, responsible service of alocomohol and stuff. Ya know.
The end of an era and beginning of a new chapter? The new Toohey's Extra Dry (low carb stuff) is really nice.

Just spent a week in Falls. You could say that it was pretty quiet. The snow was pretty good in Sun Valley, nothing else open yet, but it was snowing as we were leaving. Of course school holidays start this week for Vic and NSW.
