Hate to say in but in spots it was bordering on to much snow to day, shirakaba under the Ace Par No 3 and the treed area around Merchen over at Annupuri were insane

Concur.....my midget asked me if there was ever a day where there is too much snow, I said no way, BUT..... I sunk more than once. And the midget ended up looking like a snowball for the most part. Mr Fonty loved it, he is a Swiss Expat though taken from his motherland, so if he needs a snorkel he is in heaven!

Toto, you & Donza have got me thinking about a car next time. Probably make a decent contribution to it by saving on accom price not staying in upper village. BTW, I don't want to say I think of you every time I take a piss but your forum name makes me chuckle.

Toto would prefer if his name gave you the shits

Yeah you can stay somewhere like the lower village and use the car every day.
I would doubt you would start your day at Hirafu once you get mobile.

    mate, imagine how I feel.

    I'm beyond advocating automobiles nowadays.
donza continues to proselytise, but I suspect he drives a Subaru and there is no cure.

What's the best onsen in the Niseko area? Greenleaf? Want to take the crew somewhere to night.

Greenleaf is very nice. Do you have males and females in your group? There's a mixed onsen at the Niseko Grand Hotel in Konbu Spa area. There's a really nice onsen on the right just before the turn off to Moiwa that has a great rotenburo (outdoor area). My own personal favourite though is up at Goshiki. Mostly because it's isolated and few other foreigners ever go there and it's somewhat magnificent setting nestled near the saddle between Iwaonupuri and Annupuri.

Just got warmed up yesterday in the bluebird day and my camera battery was flat so no photo from then, meh the memories will serve me well enough... after 18cm through Friday, it was good out.

Not much more than a dusting overnight but some nice wind deposits around... been snowing on and off through out the day getting better later and now just light snow but nice big fluffy flakes.

    Nice pics texy!

First day on the mountain today..

First impressions are awesome. Not the huge amounts of vertical I've been spoilt by in big European resorts recently, but the trees and powder amongst them is amazing.

Never been in a place like this where it's snowing, but the visiblity is so good. On off snow all throughout the day. Snowing again very lightly as I type this. Hopefully picks up a bit overnight and fills in some of the tracks. Will have to start exploring off piste tomorrow and beyond

Niseko is all about the off-piste. The piste is in my opinion pretty crap. You should try and meet up with texy, he knows most of the good spots [IMG]

Yes the piste is pretty rubbish except for a few runs... I like Annupuri for cruising the groomers. I know just a few good spots GN, but you should come guide for us so it is freshness all day!

I know... wallowing in self pity we are [IMG]

I have a chainsaw motor and propeller on the end.

Thanks Neslot, yes got the GoPro set to take shots every 5 secs, end up with quite a few pictures by the end of the day... so I just keep the 1% that make me look good and delete the 99% that are the reality.

Where are all the other people photos? Must be more out there who can help me taunt malibu. [IMG]

Texy - might have to tag along with you one day if you felt like showing me some off piste goodness? [IMG] Very keen to go through some gates and find some fresh stuff

I'm also thinking of paying the 2000 yen and having the lecture/video to get access to the restricted/avalanche training area.

Don't be too intimidated by the gates surfie (it's Niseko and there's nothing extreme! [IMG] ). Most have very obvious routes down and out to the lifts or in the case of 4 and 5 which access Fujiwara no Sawa down to a cat track which has a 15-20 min walk back up to the piste.
Have you had a go in Strawberry's or Blueberry's yet? Or Miharashi, Roy's or Waterfall? They are all easily accessible and it's near impossible to completely lose your way. Gate 7 in Annupuri also a good area to introduce yourself to the off-piste. And you really can't go wrong heading into Annupuri bowl through gate 1.
Coming off the peak though it's definitely possible to lose yourself in poor vis and if you don't know where you're going.

I try and be conservative in my estimates and it entirely depends on where you come out onto the cat track. As you've probably only ever done it once or twice down the same gully you may not be aware of this [IMG]
