"The Onsen is great and even has floating trays to put your beer in!"

And with that I'm reminded that I'm in the Niseko thread [IMG]

hi all, been floating around Niseko for the past few days. Had a great day out of Hanazono G5 on Sunday. As expected we encountered some nasty cracks and holes at mid elevations ~700m or so around Jacksons. Can see how the tragic accidents have happened. They are really very dangerous.

    The sun came out briefly.

We skied Moiwa yesterday. Snow was exceptional, knee to waist deep everywhere, even right below the lift. As per previous years the ski out of the bowl is pretty hairy with the creek exposed. No photos was having to much fun.

Today was perfect bluebird. The first ive had in four trips here. we skied Chisen, haven been before and really enjoyed it. Some nice interesting terrain and bugger all people. The BC looked awesome but didnt have touring gear.

Seriously? Got a photo of a girlfriend's red beanie popping under the door of the white room yesterday. Incredibly sick shot! Unfortunately I don't think it's my place to post it here though.

If anyone is looking for a unique and delicious place to have dinner or lunch, I recommend trying Mozart in Izumikyo 2.
The restaurant and food is European style.
I had Christmas dinner there last year and tonight I took the missus there for Valentines day, very tasty indeed.
There's a lovely Japanese couple running the place, so pleasant and friendly. They gave us some fruit and valentines chocolates on the way out.
I just wanted to let people on here know about this place. They are such lovely people I'd love to be able to bring them more business.

Very sad to leave on Saturday morning. Looked like it was going off! Just not sure my legs could have handled another day of skiing.

anyone know if they're going to open up mizuno no sawa again this season? its been closed since jan 19th because of a large number of glide cracks.
about 10 days ago i saw ski patrol had put ropes above the cracks, which gave me the impression maybe they were going to try opening again.

So what is it this season with the cracks/crevasses? I've been there four times, skied all round the place in and out of bounds, and only had to be wary of the one straight out gate 4. Just lucky or ignorant on my part, or are there a lot more this season?

More this season by all accounts.
    Weather is a fickle thing.

I'd be interested to know if it's something in the way the base was laid down, the pattern of snowfall. Maybe the windy conditions since late January? I dunno. Mayb some of the Niseko regulars could theorise.

from what i've been told, instead of the normal highish temp early wet falls, they had some early dry dumps which didn't set a good base.

From my experience they are bigger in years that had big early snowfalls with no rain events. So the base of the snowpack doesn't really set nice and hard.

Yes this was the greatest day skiing in 35 years of my skiing life. Gate 2 was amazing chest deep. Deepest snow we have ever experienced in resort ever especially up at the top lifts area. You needed powder straps in resort it was that deep! I know spent 20 mins looking for a ski in bowl under hooded triple at the top in waist deep!! We couldn't get enough so stayed out until nearly 7pm cause the conditions were so good. [IMG] [IMG]

Just finishing my first day at work back in Brisbane after 1 week of skiing through knee deep. Hardest day of work I have had to do.

Spent some time in Rusutsu + Kiroro over the last few weeks - epic.

Might get around to doing a TR in the near future but in the mean time:
