Hi regulars. Wife unfortunately broken her ankle last weekend so means she is out of action for skiing during our week at Thredbo (1st week July). Is about our 10th trip down (winter & summer), so have an OK idea for the obvious non skiing things to do, but wondering if anyone had any good ideas. Is her left foot, so she could also drive to Jindy to do some things. Thanks in advance.

Coffee and cake, and a schnapps, at Wild Brumby distillery

I like the pizzas at the restaurant at Lake Crackenback, open for lunch and might need to book for dinner

The trout farm sometimes runs visitor tours.

A drive to dead horse gap and down to Tom Groggin can be nice if she’s not seen that side of the mountains before.

Movie theatre in Jindy, search ‘Jindabyne Cinema’ for screenings and times.

Learn to sit ski? Not sure what the cost is.

She's probably pretty bummed about it - I've noticed that a few day spas in the village (Edelweiss Day Spa at The Denman, and one at Bernti's https://berntis.com.au/pages/thredbo-day-spa), or even down at Crackenback - why not treat her to a voucher or a booking to cheer her up?

Buy a $25(?) foot passenger ticket and have lunch at the top of the kosci chairlift in Eagles Nest restaurant

I love this idea, and have often thought it’d be a great alternative. However if the ankle is recently broken it might be painful to do anything like that at this stage.

Apparently sit skiing is MEGA hard. A mate of mines wife was told she was never going to be able to ski "normally" so she put days and days into it and it was so hard she went out and proved the Drs wrong- this was easier than sit skiing evidently.

When not sliding I like getting on the drink.

Thanks for that, exactly what I was after. Didn't realize that there were Thredbo options. Will book in for one of these.

Thanks, have that one on the agenda. Our regular lunch / drinking spot on the mountain is Black Sallees, so will be a bit disappointing not to be able to get there. Have always found Eagles Nest to be crazy busy. Hopefully if we are a bit more flexible with timing then we might be able to find a less chaotic time.

DWA prefer to help the disabled rather than the simply injured.

If you were to go down that path skiing on one ski with outriggers (3 track) is a lot easier than a sit ski.

AIUI you have to be permanently disabled to qualify for DWA assistance. I suppose in theory you could learn to sit ski without DWA but sit ski's (and trained helpers/instructors) are probably hard to come by
