I had a good chat with Joel Gratz who founded the Open Snow reporting site in the US. I am no weather expert but these guys seem like a really professional crew given their backgrounds. He took me through the concept and the places he reckons will deliver this season - interestingly enough some areas he thought perhaps wouldn't. Anyway, did I a blog about it here if you are interested. Warning however - I did not get particularly technical if that's your thing.

Things seem to be chugging along around average for snowfall up to this point. Storm cycle passing through right now and another one due in a week or so.

I've been pretty happy following the Opensnow forecasts: http://opensnow.com/dailysnow/colorado

I follow the avalanche advisories (CAIC) for the the most neutral information on snowfall http://avalanche.state.co.us/forecasts/backcountry-avalanche/aspen/ and if you want to get really technical you can look at the field reports in the "observations and weather data" tab which have comprehensive snowpack profiles.
