    As far as I can see in the snowfall stats of the last 47 years the current season total of 586" is beaten only by 2011 season which racked up a crazy 669"... Looks unofficial but seems legit.

    ...and cause I love my charts I needed to find one, so here it is:

    Just looked up the State Survey site for Snow pack and Mammoth Pass is currently on +194% on it's seasonal average for this time for this of year.

    Cypress is due to close next Monday with a mid mountain base of 570cm and seasonal snowfall of over 12m. If we don't go to Whistler this weekend we're going to grab an Easter pass and head to Cypress - Family Pass for 4 days skiing is $99. Bloody good value there!

    Far kurnell - still snowing in BC

    Fernie with another 15cm overnight - 55cm in the past week

    Season to date - 1037cm!!! :eek::eek::eek:

    That's a BIG season for Fernie, a lot of that came late too over late Feb and into March - the locals would be cheering! All the Aussie punters would have gone home by then

    The CEO of Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley is considering operating a lift through to next season. There is just so much snow there!

    Great skiing at Whistler this weekend.

    Yesterday we skied Whistler bowls and the north west facing slopes were skiing beautifully all morning - packed and pockets of fresh powder, blue skies. Anything copping direct sun got heavy quickly. Still fairly long lift lines .

    Finished off the day back on Blackcomb getting pockets of steep fresh boot deep powder in Ruby Bowl as well. Today - dumping snow again. Snowline just below Solar Caoster so heavier and vis was not great so we didn't head right up to the Alpine but needless to say lots of fun around Jersey Cream. North facing slopes had some nice accumulations by mid morning. Got pretty wet as the day went on so we've pulled the pin but fark me! April 17th!

    Probably just do a few more day trips through the rest of April and May when the weather is good.

    All time record for Mammoth is 668.5" of snow in 2010-11 "season".
    So in effect 73" to go...

    As far as snow on the horizon goes; Mammoth stands to receive ~10-15" in the next week. A highly obtainable total given there's officially another month and a half of snow reporting.

    Would it be feasible to have even basic operations running through the Summer? Obviously a much larger population over there but people would surely be thinking beach, summer ideas rather than keep skiing / snowboarding?

    Jackson has had 651" (54 feet) for the season and managed to bury Corbets Cabin in the last 3 weeks, since it closed.

    Meanwhile the Couloir looking somewhat tame being so loaded with snowpack/drifts.

    Get hold of a book called The Sixth Winter, by Douglas Orgill & John Gribbin. Amazing read!
