Heavy wet snow/sleet falling in Oslo. First time I have seen proper snow at sea level [IMG] Not settling yet, but probably will start to soon as it cools down.

Woo Hoo!!! SNOW! Snowed fairly heavily for about 3hours here in Oslo, a dusting on the ground 0.5-1cm I'd say. Currently about -1 in Bislett. Doesn't look like much more on the way, and the ground is still far to warm to hold it, you can see it melting as you watch.

Pics a lot of it has melted from the sidewalks now :

We are a similar distance (Sydney Melbourne) apart but hoping for opposite weather patterns. I want a scandi high to direct siberian cold over the UK while it'd only bring your frosts and blue skies.

Look forward to more of your pics.

Still nothing in the short term (perhaps a bit of sleet overnight tonight, but not much).

Longerterm models are looking better for Tuesday-Wednesday next week. Well we can only hope.

Nice pics Trappers. Just wondering how far the resorts are out of Oslo? Next year I am going to be a semester of uni at Uppsala in Sweden, which is about 45 mins from Stockholm. I was thinking I would have to head to France/Switzerland for the slopes (which I will be doing anyway) but the possibility of going across the border for some day trips/weekend trips etc is definitely appealing

The biggest resort, Hemsedal, is about 4 hours drive from Oslo, but there is a smaller resort (about the size of Perisher) about 30min public transport from my place in central Oslo (and in the inner zone too so my normal ticket will get me there [IMG] [IMG] ).

Anyway, we've had seriously unseasonably warm conditions, max's of +8-10C which is virtually unheard of for this time of year. We've just entered somewhat of a brief cold spell. It is 12:19am and -2.5C outside (Acc to my dig thermom), but it will only last a few days until a predicted +5 for wednesday ... unbelievable!

Hi Trappers, just saw noticed this thread. Enjoy Norway, it is sensational. We skied this Easter in Ringebu (nordic skiing) and at Kvitfjell. +1 was pleasantly surprised at the latter - still heaps of snow in mid-April and of good quality. Stayed in a friends little fairy-tale cottage, no water or electricity, and one of many dotted all over the mountains.

Not sure how long you're over there, but make sure you do the Oslo-Bergen train trip (you have probably been told this endlessly already!)

Ok warmed up a bit now, a lovely -3C ... so warm I didn't have to put thermals on to go to work this morning! :woohoo:

Here are some pics from Saturday 10th Feb 2007 (click for larger):
It was about -10 to -7C when these photos were taken, it is a little hard to capture the cold in the photos though!

It's been snowing for the last 2 days, very heavily down south, resulting in major road dramas. Snowing here in central Oslo quite heavily at the moment. I'm about to go off skiing for the afternoon at Tryvann, a resort 30min by PT from my place [IMG]

Well skied the Oslo resort of Tryvann for about 3 hrs this afternoon, and it was snowwing quite heavily the whole time. Unfortunately the temps were relatively warm, only -1 or so and the snow was fairly heavy. That said I did have some good runs down the main 1.6km long "black" run. but I must admit, it wasn't black compared to Hotham blacks, it was more like an easier / longer version of Imagine. Off to Trysill next weekend, which is Norways bioggest resort, and apparently the blacks there are truly black ... but after tryvann and Hemsedal (another bigger Norwegian resore with crappy blacks) ... I'll believe it when I see it!

Nevertheless, good to get out there, allbeit on 158 hire skis which I asked to be set at a DIN of 9.5 but would only go to 8 [IMG] Not hiring from them again!
