just a few secret spots ive found up near skyline.
wind blown stashes and gullys were ok but lots of dust on crust in other spots.

do you think its an issue if you push up to the front of the gondola line if you're a single? im sick and tired of seeing gondolas with 2 people in them while the line is 30 people deep.

I walked around the right of the barrier as an obvious single in the goldola line a few times and no one turned their head. Cant see eanything wrong with it. I found Line mamagement is generally non existent.

Nagasaka gondola has a singles line.. Hikage never has.. Yamabiko top chair has a singles line when busy..

Edit: They put extra cars on the gondolas on the weekends.. and open a few other chairlifts.. A good trick is to get to the gondola early and leave skis/ board there and come back just before opening ....

How do you dispatch them when you find them?Is it the fur or the flesh that you are after?

I think the point we can all draw from all this whinging is that Nozawa is a terrible place with absurd gondola queues and secret stashes that are by no means secret.A place best avoided.

Just watched a couple of novice snowboaders get rescued by the ski patrol.. the snow is slow and deep on the groomer. They were struggling to get down, they still have quite a few klm's to the village and would not make it by dark (which it nearly is now) she was exhausted, the ski patrol were doing their first sweep and called up a skidoo and took them down. It is very cold and windy. It could have ended badly.

    Be carefull out there !

IMO Webber Chocked is just making observations, nothin wrong with that. I just returned from 2 weeks on snow in Honshu - very mixed bag of deep powder, sun, 2 days of rain and small follow up falls of snow and a couple of shitty icy days. Of course i would loved constant snow (last TR https://www.ski.com.au/xf/posts/1762070#Post1762070), despite the climatic realty. Verm is right that it's best to have back ups planned, which We ended out doing a lot of. It's not churlish to be disappointed though.

rode first to last lifts today. pretty busy obviously. still managed to get untouched lines at 4pm.

skyline double chair line was insane long at the end of the day. (observation)

watching every few chairs filled with 1 person riding it is flamboyant_expletive frustrating (complaint)

The challenge double chair is the goods. That thing is awesome for speedy pow laps.

Was on the first hikage gondy this morning with this gun old japanese man. Hit the black Challenge runs first up for some unbelievable fresh turns, face shot after face shot.

Got a bit too ambitious with the go-pro (on the stick) and wanting to hit every steep face that had knee deep pow, and ended up crashing out and loosing my go-pro! Ended up searching the snow for about 45mins before eventually giving up. Some really nice japanese guys also came and helped me scour the surrounding area, but with no avail.

Put in a lost and found request at the main gondy, not really hoping for much, but when I went back to the challenge lift at around 1pm, I just thought I'd ask to see if it had been handed in....and it had! Wow, talk about luck. Managed to review the footage (it kept rolling for 2hrs+) and it was some local who found it and dropped it in....a million thanks!

One of the best lifts on the mountain and it hardly ever runs for economic reasons. It was crazy earlier last week when there was a huge line at the Hikage gondola because Naga was on wind hold and they still didn't open it.

Just about everywhere was crazy crowded today.. had a few nice runs at Yamabiko, then the 10 minute plus lift line started about 9.30 ish so we bailed out of there..the 2 small lifts between the gondolas were not busy.. catch both up and it is a decent run down.. played there till lunch.
Took an hour to have lunch where it usually takes 20 mins from click out to click in.. was still way better than a day at work though!!

What a day! Non-stop nukage and bottomless pow all day. In fact, was so deep in some places that I actually ended up rescuing someone who had faceplanted and couldn't get out under the mountains of snow.

Managed to score the first gondy again this morning and lapped the Challenge lift pretty much till 4pm. Had heaps of fun finding so many lines off the Rinkan cat track too.

Also managed to sit next to the person who handed in my lost go-pro at lunch! What a small world. Several arigato gozaimasu's later and I think she understood how thankful I was.

Crowds pretty much disappeared after lunch as predicted and was a ghost town as the nukage continued. Looking forward to tomorrow!

    Hikage or Naga ?

A rider here nearly bit his tounge off under the Hikage the other day... Knee hit bottom jaw... A trip to the doctor for some stitches, then a visit to the dentist to straighten his teeth... He will be right in a week or two... He is enjoying banana smoothies and pumpkin soup.. And talking with a big lisssssppppp..
