Nice line. That skyline area is full of those lines and most people are too timid to go in there

BTW - do you ride first lifts from hikage side or nagasaka? Not sure if getting the utopia pair up then challenge gets you to that part of the mountain earlier than the hikage gondola

Timid is fine-It's also an area where plenty of stuff can happen(hitting trees, falling through into the creek at the runout, slides, cliffed out)and a lot of people of varying ability(often low) exercise varying degrees of judgement/risk assessment(often erring on the side of crappy/oblivious). This season in particular it seemed there were a lot of people riding pretty blind through there, and that was in a down snow week, with a pretty unstable snowpack. Once all this new snow hit it seemed only a matter of time before something bad happened(hope that euro guy is alright.) Thank goodness it wasn't an aussie, which woulda been my bet.. Be careful crew!

Hikage or Naga ?

A rider here nearly bit his tounge off under the Hikage the other day... Knee hit bottom jaw... A trip to the doctor for some stitches, then a visit to the dentist to straighten his teeth... He will be right in a week or two... He is enjoying banana smoothies and pumpkin soup.. And talking with a big lisssssppppp..
Why is there an s in lisp?

Last day in Nozawa today.

Amazing place, hopefully it stays unspoiled. Some crazy tracks all over the mountain. I hope these clowns start respecting the mountain a bit more before something more tragic happens. I fear it's more a matter of when not if though.
Good to catch up with FatBoy and Pelm1, nice to put a face to the name. Cheers for the coffee, best in town.
I will definitely be back next year for a rematch.

riding off piste at nozawa with no gear and even worse no knowledge will catch up with you fast a hard. Those trees slide and slide big. Give yourself a fighting chance by at least knowing a little and carrying the right gear.

Under the Hikage has started to slide.. the cracks from yesterday will be covered again.. good place to stay away from. It looks like it is going to go, big time.

Have resisted looking at forecast and snow levels or even thinking about Nozawa for days now, partly because I know its dumping and I am INSANE WITH A CASE OF THE 'WHY AM I NOT THERES'. A capital case of...... enjoy folks, hope the beast gets sorted FB before you all starve or miss flights (although missing a flight home could work fine too)

Yeah, seems was one of those unmarked invisible holes. Seriously, that guy should buy many lotto tickets.
The stuff people say and do under stress. Rescued the board first, maybe it had sentimental value. Got the dude out so that great, but maybe they should have sought help.
Great theatre at least.

Nothing like some armchair experts passing judgement from the comfort of their lounge room is there!

If he didnt pass the board up first how would they have got the thing out afterwards?

The dude did great and saved his mate and you guys just want to act like big guns on the net.

I wasn't passing particular judgement. It's quite fascinating. The guy could have died and they made a little production out of it.(Surely it wasn't staged)...dialogue, action, suspense. Then there is the ever present POV.
Anyway, what is the risk of one of these holes collapsing?
I'd of happily walked home after getting out of there. Suppose would have thought about the board at some stage.
Might stay inbounds this year thanks FB!

The riding style looks so frikken wack cause the arm is out like a no ball signal.

For sure he was lucky, but lemming as.

Bob, I was actually trying to be bit circumspect bc i don't know all the details. I remember many time looking of the skiers right on skyline and contemplating heading down there - but I didn't bc i didn't know the terrain, the conditions or even the way out. Caution is the word.

But I was also making an observation on the obsessive narcissisms involve with using Go Pros – if you watch the vid again the dude spends as much time adjusting and re adjusting the pole as he does executing the rescue (granted the guy in the whole appeared safe)
My questions still remains though – was it O.O.B? If so, it looks like they had no gear at all
