I'm based in Hakuba but coming for a couple of days for the fire festival. Maybe a few early January too.

Hey Bob, need a chick to test some of your boards? [IMG]

All jokes aside. A drink is the least I can buy ya, bud.

Last week I found myself utilising google maps stuff contributed to in 2010 by yourself.

Still paying dividends three years later mate.

I've almost forgiven you for writing that book.

I see Nozawa is building an outdoor onsen. Perhaps FB can shed more light on this?

Nozawa already has onsens that have both indoor and outdoor pools. In fact, I'd be surprised if most Japanese resorts don't have at least one of these.

Perhaps the one you are referring is a new one with large outdoor pools.....

    Just booked Nozawa.

Add me to the crew list - myself, Mrs GeeWhiz + 2 boys, staying 18th - 25th Jan. First time snowboarding in Japan after a few years of NZ trips, can't wait.

Greetings good folk! Kicking tyres on a Nozawa trip in early Feb. looking for info on accommodation suitable for families with kids <5 years old. Specifically close to the lifts (or travelator) and near enough to where the kids ski school is.

Would love to try Sasa out but I won't put the other guests through an experience with our little tribe [IMG]

This is where we are staying in January with our two little ones. (7yrs and 4yr old) Right next to the main Nagasaka gondola.

    http://gonozawa.com/

Another place I found was this one, it's further from town but still ski in/ski out.

    http://kenashi.com/rates.html

I think the kids ski school in Nozawa only does private lessons in English. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong ?

Mid to late Feb will be easier to find something but your snow quality will more than likely be better end Jan/start Feb. Just sent you a PM.

Hi all, long time reader but new poster to these forums. My partner and I are planning on staying in Nozawa from Jan 6th - 10th before heading to Hakuba. I have been looking in to places to stay but am not having much luck! We are looking for a double room (Japanese style ok) with ensuite and breakfast around the $100ppn mark. Any recommendations from seasoned Noz experts would be great! Thanks in advance :)

Asked this question in the Hakuba thread but same applies here.

Where is a good place hire some powder skis for the deep days when my all mountains won't do the job? Hopefully most of them! [IMG]
What's the sting usually for a set of boats for the day?

The last pair of skis I bought was 1990. The set before that were hand-me-downs from the early eighties.

I resumed skiing a few years ago and showed up at P with my long and leans. Got either laughed at or yelled at by those in and around the lift queues. Started hiring from BP Jindy cos it was kinda too cheap to worry about.

Started going o-seas and hadn't done anything about it.

Will be in Nozawa 12-19th Feb 2014 & will be looking to hire (good) skis whilst there,

Have seen: Rental Shop Tomy - http://www.tomy-r.com/english/ - and believe there are others,

    - Have heard & really like the idea of a handy-positioned ski rental shop holding your rental skis (& possibly ski boots, even though they'll be our own boots, if they'll be stored warm/dry enough to be dry etc. each next morning) over each night so all we have to do is rock up there (possibly in normal shoes) each morning, (change into boots and) grab rental skis, hit the slopes, then return skis (& boots) at the end of the day before heading back to accom.

Seems we can book online/via email prior, then when we rock up in person during our trip pay them in Yen cash then and there too, which also sounds good.

Any advice/suggestions for ski rental in Nozawa please?

I'm at Nozawa from 6th - 13th Jan, staying at FatBoy's place. I'm sure he still has room at that time. (no ensuite, but half way up the mountain, first tracks every day!!!)
