    Hi,
We will be at Nozawa next week and looking at ski hire near Hikage station (staying closest to this station), and preferable it would have lockers so we could store the skis overnight and our shoes during the day. From the map it looks like there is a small cluster of hire places right near it, with St Anton, Shirakaba, Olive in it. Anyone have recommendations on these places?
    Regards
    Damien

I hired skis from St Anton earlier this month
I left my boot bag there on a shelf during the day and the skis on a rack at night
    they also have lockers
nice friendly people, also decent coffee at their other place down the hill

I’ve used St anton a couple of times.

no lockers but they’ll store your skis and boots if you hire from them for free (your own boots if you’ve hired skis too). They charge a nominal fee if you don’t hire from them ((200yen p/day I think).

coffee is great from them at hikage too

I’ve heard good things about Olive but don’t know if they’ll store stuff (strongly suspect they would though).

As above. We hired from the St Anton ski shop a few years ago; for 100 yen (a while ago) a night they will store your own gear, while from memory they will store the rental stuff there for free. It is well worth doing as it’s a long trudge up that hill in ski boots carrying skis! Incidentally, there are also ski lockers you can hire for 100 yen.

The storage fee at St Anton jumped from 100 yen last year to 200 yen this year. We just went with it whilst we were on the Hikage side, but our friends carried their gear up every day...

I didn't pay any fee, other than one time I used one of the lockers at the back of the basement
so I'm assuming that you weren't customers?

We were just storing our boots and skis overnight, so 200 yen each. We have been very good customers in the past, Mrs St Anton remembered us well. She looks after rentals on the first floor and staff in the basement take fees for storage. I felt the 100% price hike was a bit steep, but weighed that up against carrying the load each day. It was not a difficult decision.
