How's the smoke level over there? It's gone from bad to putrid over here.We cook here in Tuggeranong![]()
I’m across the lake. About 200m visibility. How's the smoke level over there? It's gone from bad to putrid over here.
My view. Going nowhere.Smoke is next level in Canberra this morning. Real bad. We knew it was coming. Had a day or so of lower levels ( still well above hazardous levels but with a mask was not too bad) but there's no way were going out in that today. Better than fire I know but still totally ****ed up and a real nasty harbinger of where things are headed
My view. Going nowhere.

This is the new normal I fear.Looks like Dehli on a bad day
Someone earlier in the thread someone explained that this heat is not ‘going away’ just being bounced back and forth across Australia. Does anyone know when this is likely to break up and the South East of the country go back to more ‘normal’ conditions?
Not raining apart from a few dirty drops in Tuggeranong. Pea soup outside right now - taking visitors to the Portrait Gallery. I too fear that these conditions will become more frequent in summers to come.Another rain band coming through ACT region
Edit: most of the institutions are closed due to the poor air qualityNot raining apart from a few dirty drops in Tuggeranong. Pea soup outside right now - taking visitors to the Portrait Gallery. I too fear that these conditions will become more frequent in summers to come.

My grandmother used to talk about 1939 and remind us again every summer.1939 was a year of remarkable high temperature extremes, massive fires (at least in Victoria - not sure about NSW?). But seems that today's maximums and massive bushfires will be up there to rival 1939.
48.9 at Penrith yesterday. new record. never before have i been outside and the heat was actually painful on your skin.
I posted that on Sunday night.
