It’s been mostly sunny here this morning after early cloud. The wind is biting. At 7:00 is was 10.1° at the Airport, not particularly cold, but with an apparent temperature of 1.4°. Most of Sydney bottomed out around 8-10°. Mt Boyce had a minimum of -0.4° but no precipitation.

Interesting to see the reports of light snow. There’s no sign of snow on the Oberon webcam and it’s now sunny there. However, witn not much moisture in this system I expect that falls of snow or rain would be a bit of a hit or miss affair: http://oberon.liveweatherviews.com/

Back to warmth for the end of the week before another cool down (again fairly dry) for the weekend.

BoM going for 17°C tomorrow. If it gets to 16°C I'll eat my hat.

Finding it difficult to believe 17°C is attainable with -31°C uppers at midday. Evening temps don't even come close.

Looking at AXS-C temps don't even breach 15°C for the Sydney City area.
Only 1.5 degrees to go LOL My PWS near B1 has hit 16,and I have a spare hat, now on 15. Both wind and sun have a bite when you're not in the other.

Sunny skies over metro at B1. Oh and I see a 16 degrees at Obs Hill - rounded up of course so the hat remains intact.

A perfect Spring day for the Equinox in Sydney (5:21 AM this morning). After a pleasantly crisp dawn, it quickly warmed up, beating the forecast 25° before a light sea breeze arrived. We get a rerun tomorrow, a little warmer, before it cools down for the weekend. There’s little or no rain with the change, but the BOM forecast does include the possibility of thunderstorms for mid next week.

For the first time in a while I had a look at WZ’s 28-rain forecast. It looks like February, with rain possible for Sydney nearly every day.

Here’s the view from Lane Cove Weir around 3:00 PM.

I reckon we must be getting gusts of at least 60 km/h, if not more. It's up there with one of the windier nights we've had all winter tbh.
Yeah I agree.
B2 isn't as windy.
Downslope winds affecting the escarpment.

I can tell how windy it is by the branch count wacking my guttering.
Its a moderate winter storm.

I noticed that too.
I also noticed that after two weeks the forecast temps are really just the average for those dates. That being the case I don't give any forecast (rain included) any credence past 2 weeks.

Let me guess. It's a trap. Sydney Storm Shield is fully operational.
There's build up on the western divide with anvil overcast all afternoon on the coast but no action.
Then storms flare up off the coast at night when we're asleep.
when sydney does see strong storms they usually form over eastern blue mountains eg (1947) or even in the basin eg (2018). dec 2018 was close to the upper limit with what the basin is capable of. 1947 had a stronger storm but only two storms formed that day compared to 5 or 6 on 20th December 2018. imo January 1991 was the max intensity of how strong a storm can be in the basin.

maybe we will get 20mm in 10min from a fast moving thunderstorm like sydney cbd witnessest two days before the great western and northern sydney supercell of 9th December 2007.

@Joshua Randazzo.

I don't want to stymie your contributions to the forum but you don't need to post the same video every time there is a mention of storms in the forecast.
We get that you are obsessed with 3 particular storms in Sydney, but please stop repeating the same old same old in your posts.
By all means, ask questions, make queries, post pictures etc.....
Just stop repeating yourself. 123 posts so far and at least 100 would be the same.

In saying that, I love the fact you are passionate about the weather, and in particular, thunderstorms.

Today has panned out exactly how I thought.
After a beautifully sunny, clear and warm morning, we now have full overcast after the winds turned SE'erly around lunchtime.
It has also turned quite cold which is not surprising considering the obs from the south coast and Illawarra earlier today.
It;s quite a nice evening actually to enjoy my slow cooked meal (Moroccan Chicken Casserole) and watch some footy.
Well, the NSW type footy anyway, not that Victorian brand, which is more handball than football.

Was a very nice evening here too. We had some pizzas and a backyard fire :)
