113km/h at Bellambi

Thankfully wouldn't be anywhere near that here, maybe 70-80km/h gusts.
Its nuts up this end.
Trees down on the distributor.

The one plus of all of this wind it that it’s sorted out most of our deciduous trees in short order. Normally they take weeks to drop everything

Is that in the 90 zone just before Towradgi Rd?
Yup. Pic off FB.

I drove through this morning. Dropped my wife at work at the Hospital.

Normally the wind is stronger on Hospital hill. However it seemed stronger closer to the coast.

There are concerns a four storey-high wall on a CBD office building might collapse due to the high winds.

Fire and Rescue NSW duty commander Paul Vaiciungis said the besser brick wall was flexing about one inch from the rest of the Rawson Street building.

Mr Vaiciungis said there were concerns the wall might break away and collapse.

An engineer has been called in to assess the wall.

Rawson and Regent streets have been closed to traffic as a safety precaution and occupants have been recommended to evacuate.

Black polar clouds lifting over the hills above Tooma. Max 6.7 °C at near 2 PM (540 m AMSL), dropping to 4.6 °C under showers. Heavy sleet showers throughout the day up at Maragle (900–1,000 m) but no settling snow.

That's a very cold max for the elevation, even lower than Canberra. I couldn't imagine being in those temps especially with wind and cloud.

The forecast for the Basin is maximums in the mid-teens, minimums close to zero and sunny skies. Even July couldn't be more July-like.

As Wavey pointed out before it seems so weird that June is going to end up with almost no rainfall (if the last week isn't wet). But unlike sunny Junes in previous years which were much warmer than average (e.g. 2004) this sunny June is really cold.

I must say that it has certainly been the most prolonged and abrupt start to winter that I can ever remember.
Normally, it's a luckily timed cold change with a good dump of snow (even if that happens) that lasts 3 or 4 days.
This year it will be a two week event, with a heap of snow in the alps, several flurries over the Tablelands and continuous cold temps for the Metro, Illawarra and generally in all honesty, most of the State.

2000 was similar from memory.
Although the abrupt cold change was in late May.
Currently 10.3C at Maitland Airport, with an apparent temp of 4.3C.
Not sure the "feels like" temp is that drastically different though.

It seems the cold pool was too far west by just a hair, as the Paddys River and Maragle areas had less snow relative to altitude than Tumba.

–0.5 °C at Bago State Forest (1,128 m AMSL) with quality snow, though not as heavy as the last event due to trajectory of the front. Photos of the last event were also from a lower elevation of 983 m.

Was waiting for models to confirm this, but this is quite the cold burst for the 21st century.

But looks like we could be biting back the years even further though.

The clouds broke one month earlier than i expected but it definitely pulled winter forward, this is unlikely to let up until after Mid July, when we might see a warm air incursion pushing us close to 20 degrees. But thankfully the wind is keeping minimums up or we are in for a very frosty winter.

There were a few spots of rain here as the remnants of the rain band passed over, probably not enough to measure.

Here‘s Sydney 28 day forecast from Elders Weather:

I interpret it to mean we can expect measurable rainfall on about five of the next 28 days. Zero would be better but I’ll take it.

Interesting forecast from the BOM - seven days with a daily mean of about 11.6°. That would have been unremarkable in the early 20th century but it’s 2.6° below the 30-year June average. We don’t see that too often.

P.S. the OH site has been on the blink since 3:30.

Currently 7.9C but “feels like” 2.0C at Maitland Airport.
The wind is definitely cold, but not to that extent.
Looks like a cold dry spell the next few days, mainly 15C with a couple of 16C maximums.
Definitely below average for here, even though Maitland Airport only started up in July 2016.
