You can say that again! Awesome weather, these are my favourite kind of days in winter. Min of 6.0°C this morning, 5.4°C yesterday.

    Cold around Sydney too:
    • Sydney OH 7.5°
    • Bankstown 4.0°
    • Richmond 0.5°
    • Camden 0.3°
The Richmond and Camden readings were the coldest since August.

It’s a rather chilly morning with some high cloud about, which seems to be thickening. Around Sydney temperatures got down to 8° near the coast, 5° inland and about 2-4° in the outer West. There have been some chunk-looking showers about 60 km off the coast for the last couple of hours which seem to be almost stationary.

EC & GFS painting a picture of showers and possible thunderstorms this afternoon for the South & Illawarra coastlines.
AXS C not overly interested or concerned.

Could be some rain trains for Foxgrounds/Kiama this arvo.

A line of towers building to the South of Sydney.
Mid levels drawing in from the north, offshore. With a light undercutting Southerly coming up from the South inshore.
    Evident in the towers tilt.

Those showers appear to be edging towards the coast now, as per Pow's picture and the radar.

Pretty cold and foggy on the Illawarra escarpment today with Robertson and Knights Hill covered in fog all day.
Did not get much above 7'c on the car thermometer in Robertson / Knights Hill.
Visibility would have been about 100m only with the bottom half of the TV towers only visible.
Visibility was much better at Carrington Falls, and the temperature was a balmy 8'c. Here's a couple of photos from my day trip.

5 pm here Pow and not even a spit of rain all day. It's been chilly though with that cirrus keeping a lid on temps for most of the day.
May be some rain soon. That current blob seems to be holding together as it crosses the Metro, unlike the other showers today.

Those showers have reached here in the last half hour or so.

The shower cells are very slow-moving. You might get a decent total if one moves over you. Little Bay (near La Perouse) has received 24 mm since 9:00, Cronulla South 14 mm, the Airport 14 mm. It’s turned quite chilly, just 12.3° at OH (the forecast minimum rounded).

It was sunny around the middle part of the day here and in much of Sydney, allowing the temperature to rise to around 16-18° before the cloud closed in again.

    Same here.
A couple of hours of blue and the temp rose to 18.
Then, as quickly as it became sunny, it became a cold, dark afternoon.
High cloud from the west and low cloud from the south east combined. And it quickly became very chilly.

Currently 13.2 deg's and some showers just starting here now.

The crowds were quite horrendous throughout the Southern Highlands too, half an hour line up to get into the Robertson Pie shop, hundreds of people at Carrington Falls lookout. Crowds lining up down the Main Street of Bowral to get into cafes.
There was not much social distancing going on.

Yeh, I should have guessed that as well.
Everyone is desperate to go somewhere. Anywhere. Coronawhere!
I went up to the Blue Mountains with the fam 3 weeks ago. It wasn't too bad traffic wise but geez there were people everywhere, including Mt Wilson.

Didn't realise it until now, but all these showers are associated with the VERY weak trough established by the Low anchored off Port Stephens.
Starting to circulation off the sat pic and a nice tail kicking into the Shoalhaven coast:

It's pretty much dancing on the 1028hPa isobar heading out to sea.

'Lake Effect' rain bands throughout the night here in E Suburbs.
SST off the coast ~20ºC with ~5ºC @850mb saw some intensely persistent rain bands hitting us, largely before midnight last night.
    A 15ºC variance.

Cessnock AP received more than any Sydney site. I know Ellalong is SW of there, but it would have at least received a few mm's.

Drove up to Newcastle today to visit family. It’s the furthest I’ve been from home for a while.

It was mild and overcast but dry when I left home around 10:30, although there had been showers earlier. Once on the M1 Freeway the rain was persistent, quite heavy at times. The car thermometer showed 14 or 15° for most of the way. The rain stopped once I left the M1 on the Newcastle turnoff. It held off for a while before returning to stay. It rained all the way back this evening, still 14-15°.

Here’s the scene at Merewether Beach this afternoon during a brief break from the rain:

Yes, I too, noticed the fetid stench of a southerly today when I glanced out the window at lunch.

June is such a disconsolate month weather wise. There's still dew or left over rain on my lawn this evening. The sun, it does nothing! 10 more days to go until the solstice.

Very rapid start to the year rainfall wise in Sydney Observatory Hill, although we've dropped below the high standard of 1950. Rainfall is still trumbling along on an upward trajectory staying above the average staying on a similar gradient in a city with good rainfall 12 months of the year. Seems that June 1950 will be a toughie to crack and newspapers do paint a crazy picture, https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/49729736.

1888 seems quite terrible though compounded with the lack of water infrastructure at that time.

Of Sydney’s 870 mm of rain so far this year, over half (442 mm) fell in February and 390 mm (45%) fell in the four days February 7 to 10. Without those four days, it’s actually been a bit below average. January, March and May were about average, April was dry and June so far in about average (for a wet month).

it was sunny and fairly warm today.

Looking at the models, a high now over the continent crawls across to the Southern Tasman over the next ten days. Apart from some rain in the Northern inland of NSW and some coastal showers, nothing happens.

Just look at that coastal trough influence for Sydney this AM (6am).
Cloud cover and onshore flow keeping a lid on temps.
Decent cap and dry air off the continent above 3km.

Nice misty morning and a trip to Somersby Falls NSW just after 8am. Light rain, rushing water, winter temperature 11°C, bird life, dripping, wet, and serene - had the falls to myself.
