We'll be getting a reasonably strong period of gloom next week, from next Thursday to the Wednesday of the following week. As we switch the from a negative sam to a positive sam. An a easterly dip tries to establish itself.

Actually it’s blowing Easterly on the coast and Westerly inland. The flags on the Harbour Bridge were showing a Westerly until s little while ago but the OH obs (from Fort Denison 2 km East) show a moderate Easterly.

OH managed to touch 30° before the Easterly won out.

    Beautiful mauve sunset Ashestoashes.

Tomorrow afternoon / evening might be interesting if the thunderstorm outlook as at 8:00 PM Saturday 5th is anything to go by:

There’s a Southerly moving through the Illawarra. It reached Nowra just before 6:00 PM, dropping the temperature from 31° to 22° (so far).

EDIT: you can see the change in the Appin radar Doppler wind, a boomerang extending inland from Kiama.

    My opinion on tomorrow?
Sydney should see some action. Def a day to watch on the radar, esp after midday.

But alternatively, I think Buladelah & Inland Barrington Coast region is in for it, tomorrow.

Interesting to see if those storms heading towards the CT region will reach the basin. The larger of the storms seems to heading towards the Muswellbrook region

It is obvious that the cloud is going to hang around all day, so storms near Sydney will get no support from heating. I was surprised when the BOM kept to the original forecast maxima in their 9:18 update.

Yeah, that was this morning (6am) so a fair bit of 'water under the bridge' since then, so speak - thermal heating and mid-level humidity etc.
The Cobar sounding (9am) proving much more action West of us (Sydney), this AM. As was evident on the new Brewarrina radar this AM. To good news lies in the Eastward migration.

Those cells out west is probably what EC was predicting in regards to the storms for the basin tonight. BoM still positive about the storms aswell with the 4:20pm update.

Light passing showers at Mascot. It's going to remain muggy tonight.

Interestingly, Sydney's forecast for this evening by the WTC is "heavy thunderstorms...25-50mm rain expected...locally heavy rainfall possible".

With the exclusion of the weakening trough through around midnight tonight, I am not sure there’s anything left in this for the Sydney now.
Got all the hallmarks of a fizzer for us in Sydney IMO.

The weather in Sydney today was a complete waste of space. A gloomy sunless day with Easterlies, mild temperatures and a tiny amount of rain. The marine layer held the fort until the thick mid- and high-level cloud arrived. Storms inland and Northwards brought a few falls over 25 mm and scattered falls over 10 mm.

We’ll see what if anything develops later tonight. I note that the wind is shifting around more Northerly. Sites in Sydney’s outer West are warmer than they’ve been all day but still 6-7° short of the forecast.

Few lines of storms through Dubbo. Not much rain in any of them. We got a steady shower for about 30minutes mid afternoon. Other than that just enough to wet the ground. Another line passing now.
