Just a tip, take a photo of your annual biannual pass with the pass number if you want it
Replaced, even though my rego was recorded when purchaced at Sawpit entry station they
Do not have the details in the system. Their computer systems at the gates dont link up with head office.
Having fun getting a replacement , 18 months to go on it, my car was stolen and NPWS
Dont have this scenario in their system.

Oh no! So you can’t retrieve the pass number at all? That’s terrible luck, just an extra kick after having your vehicle stolen

Fk me they need to update the antiquated systems, probably still using triplicate pads to write out the please pay for a ticket, or you will get a ticket notices.

Mind you, its kind of nice having Environmental Science PHD's sitting in the box doing time until they can get a real job in their field. Like after someone dies I guess.

They do tell you to keep the receipt in case you need to replace it. I file mine away each year and have needed to use it when swapping cars/rego plates.

Classic bureaucracy at work. We're not dealing with sheep stations there. Should be plenty there for somebody's manager's manager's manager's manager to approve.

(I'm not surprised btw, have had some funny conversations when navigating delayed arrival of comp passes and having notice to pay cancelled)

Yeah I got told this as well, so I asked what good are the cameras at the gates...... Silence :)

Its fairly typical of govt IT systems, would be a trivial exercise to merge their databases and work off one, then they could use the camera system but you know, they probably need a business case.

From 20 April 2021 the NPWS will be issuing digital park entry passes.

You will no long be able to buy your annual pass at the park entry gates. The entry gates will still be manned and will sell day and multiday passes.

    https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/passes-and-fees/digital-nsw-parks-pass

So after this year I will no longer have to strugle to remove the old sticker.

This will cause issues with carers of non-driving concession passes. As the concession pass is issued to the disabled person who does not own nor drive a car. The disabled concession pass sits in with the disabled parking card that you stick on any vehicle that is transporting the disabled person who owns those passes. Nuts.

It looks like that you will only get a free pass if the concession holder has a car registered in their name or at their residential address.

Changes to NPWS Concession Pass entry to national parks

From 20 April 2021, NPWS Concession Passes will transition from being linked to a person, to instead be linked to a single vehicle number plate, as for all other NPWS annual passes.

Pensioners and eligible veterans will still be entitled to free park entry. You will need a valid NPWS Concession Pass that’s linked to a vehicle that's registered in your name, or to your residential address.

So tough luck if you are disabled. If you don't own a car you are not allowed into our National Parks!

Interesting - dad and I were talking about how the new camera's would work with concession passes.

Seems they have pre emptively thought of it.

Concession Pass can be linked to an address, and allocated to a single vehicle, including a third party vehicle, judging by the wording above. Change only impacts multi-vehicle concession use.

More about rationalising systems and reducing costs than intentional discrimination. Still not good though....evidently cars visit national parks, not people.

That rules out any amount of carers taking the disabled person to a National Park. I'm calling them tomorrow, including our local Member of Parliament. This is clearly a complete oversight.

Yes, but we will all have the same problem we had when rego stickers were removed - ie: remembering when they expire and need renewal before being fined.

Good call!! The changes may be inadvertently discriminatory and consequently even illegal, or against existing Parks’ policy.

If one shows an official an easy path out the space between a rock and a hard place self interest and a sense of self preservation can sometimes kick in. It’s won’t be justice, but it could be change.

Funny story about the annual passes - I decided to take 83 Yr old Dad on one last decent road trip with our caravans 1830klms down to Jindy and Kozi for a few weeks back in Feb. The original Plan was to spend a week on the new block I have bought and another at Island Bend but when we arrived the block was fenced off and we headed for Island Bend. At the Park Gate, Dad paid for a week's stay ($104??) but we enjoyed ourselves so much we wanted to stay longer. Off we go to Jindy Parks Office to pay for a longer stay and they tell us (a) Dad should have been given a pensioner discount and (b) he can get a credit for the amount already paid toward an annual pass. Cool; another fifty or so for an annual pass. "Have you got your rego?" Nope. "No worries come back tomorrow with your rego and we can sort it out." Cool.
Next day, I drove Dad down again from I.B. to Jindy, rego in hand but as they were confirming the annual pass details they read out the rego ABC123, upon which Dad said no, it's XYZ123. They said well what's this rego for? Is your vehicle a Toyota? Yes, but that's not the rego. For some inexplicable reason, he had the rego papers for our work tip truck (also a toyota in his glove box). Go figure?
By this stage I was getting a bit peeved so said "Just charge him full tote odds for a Season pass with the rego number he is now going to read out to you!!!".
They were incredibly helpful, but it can be difficult with elderly folk who get a bit confused.
BTW, Dad absolutely loved his time up in the mountains, where we often left him alone with the kangaroos while we explored the tracks and trails. Probably brought back a lot of memories for him as we were bushies from Gippsland and spent many a year camping up in the high country. It's probably going to be his last road trip; age catching up now.

They haven’t thought of it, they’ve given up on the issue and taken the easiest possible solution.

Which will result in a discrimination case unless they resolve a better solution.

All of this issue came up internally when the camera system was installed now 4 or 5 years and was part of numerous issues that have log jambed the implementation of the camera system since install.

And it looks like in all that time Parks have not been able to dream up a technical solution to what really is just a technical problem.

On the Alpine Way, they couldn't keep the wind from blowing down the camera pole due to 2 nuts instead of 4. LOL

Never understood that... you get reminders...

Anyway my NPWS annual pass is the same timing as my rego now. So when I renew rego I take the discount offered at the same price.

We don't get the discount because our main residence is in Sydney.

Yes it's the address on your rego.
