OK...sorry about the stupid thread title, but I was trying to reflect the kind of experience i’m after. I’m looking for recommendations that fill the following criteria please:
    1. Independent / small / boutique tour company
    2. Nicer than most accommodations
    3. They drive you
    4. Mostly inclusive
    5. 5-7 days
    6. Suitable for younger teens (need to qualify expert level skiing ability)
    7. Variety of terrains
    8. Possible add-ons
    9. Possible day off, though not required

It may be just myself and my daughter, so I don’t want to be on a bus with a bunch of 1st time loud, rowdy...you know what I mean.

Recommendations and suggestions welcome. Thanks everyone. May it snow, snow, snow...

If you're concentrating on the Queenstown region contact Queenstown Mountain Guides
They'll tailor just about anything you want to do
Friend of mine hired a couple of their guides last Summer to take her teenage boys out every day- climbing kayaking mountainbiking
They'll recommend accommodation, pick you up, do your gear-everything

It sounds to difficult to organise for oneself.......maybe just stay at Millbrook and have golf lessons.

It comes down to do you want to run your own show or plod along on someone else's timeframe? I'd get a car so you are in control of your travel and stay in a lodge with shared communal area so you and junior can have a social scene outside of each other. I'm sure you'll meet others to meet on the mountain.

Nice accommodation is easy to find in NZ.
People to pick you up and take you to ski hills is easy as well.
The best and varied terrain IMO is in canters at the Clubbies.. However the nutcrackers are a interesting experience. No matter how expert you are.

Key with nutcrackers is learning to relax on the tow which takes time and confidence, problem with clubbies is you need the right snow conditions to make them fun to ride othrrwise better off at the resorts.

I think I prefer the security of mostly piste, just because of the age of my daughter. But she’s definitely a black diamond skier.

Yes... i went to NZ many years ago. I was scared of the nutcracker stories then, and remain so now.

Love the idea of the car, except for the moutain access factor. I’ve been on those roads. Freaking terrifying.

Buses run up every resort road. You can leave your car at accommodation or pickup point.

It's a great idea you've got there but not something you can particularly do 'all in one' as it were.
If you organised higher-end accommodation (i.e. something like https://www.azur.co.nz/ or https://thedairy.co.nz/) i'm sure they could sort out the finer details for you themselves.

If you didn't want to share a bus ride with package punter families or hungover bogans from Aussie (and I don't blame you, I spend all winter driving them up the mountains), then https://www.blackzqn.com/ is about as boutique as it gets.

This is all Queenstown centric obviously but if you want a boutique experience that's not gonna happen in Methven, Springfield or Ohakune is it? ;)

This is really helpful. I’m not particularly going for 5 star. Just trying to get it all done in one. Ididn’t consider that my accommodation provider would possibly organise some other stuff for me. I loved Methven. It so could happen there. Thanks!

Why not just go see a travel agent, they can "get it all done in one"

It was a long time ago, but I once stepped in to fill a dropout's place on a NZ holiday. They had arranged a driver and a minivan to drive them around and to upmarket accommodation. Something like this. It was a great, albeit uncheap, way to do it. I came in on the second leg at Wanaka but the others had already done Mt Hutt.

One of the great delights of NZ is driving . Stopping off along the way.
Sure the whole drive up the hill thing can be daunting......

Have a chat with Simon Guild at http://www.neonpompom.co.nz. Funny name but he and Tom Dunbar and their wives run the sort of business you are after. Airport pick up. Luxury lodge outside Methven. They cook for you. Drive you to any of the Canterbury Club Fields or Mount Hutt and ski with you. If you want a lay day they have numerous options - even skeet shooting on his fathers impressive deer farm. I had a great trip with them with my daughter a couple of years ago.

Because I’m after recommendations for a company that fits the criteria. Isn’t this one of the things the forum is for? To discuss and share travel experiences.

Tekapo could be an option....not aware of any all inclusive packages but accomodation is available for all budgets. Has a great spa, ice skating and observatory. Scenery is breathtaking. And roundhill has the easiest access road in the country. Also not too far from Mt Dobson ski resort and Mt Cook for a day trip.

Mt Ruapehu is an awesome mountain but we need to point out to enquirers such as this that its weather can be awesomingly terrible as well.

Lake Ohau Lodge is a friendly cosy place at a stunning location, but I'm not sure it fits the OP's question.

The ski field is relatively small and it is a long way from anything else, or from an airport for that matter.

Yes, we love Tekapo and the nearby ski fields, but I'm not sure how easy it is without a car.

Roundhill is a relatively easy access road, although for variety one has to go to Mt Dobson and that is harder.

I think those of us who have been to these places a lot can forget how scary NZ ski roads are to first timers (and the thought of putting on chains).

My pick would be to base yourself in Wanaka, a very pretty town with two good and quite different ski fields nearby, Cardrona & Treble Cone.

Years ago I've stayed there without a car and local shuttles (minibuses) take you up & down each day. Sorry I don't have the current information but I expect you'd find it on google readily.

Te Wanaka Lodge is our favourite.

Yeah I agree, you really need a car and a couple of mountain options with the small NZ fields. You can get the bus from Tekapo to roundhill and Fairlie to Dobson but not as I know does one base do both.....and then I think they only run if enough people pre book.
We are meeting up with friends from Australia in Queenstown. I know a regular bus goes to Remarks and Coronet as it's what they will use.
